Support by donating to an NGO in Lebanon!
Hello everyone,
Recently we have been getting a lot of requests from expats to point towards a suitable NGO that is worth donating to. u/MarcellusDrum approached us at the same time and encouraged us to move forward with this in order to help Lebanese with whatever we can. We've been researching several NGOs and charities for the past few weeks.
We wanted to find a charity that doesn't discriminate based on religion, and aims to work all over Lebanon (not a specific city or region). We also wanted a charity that isn't well-known, because well-known charities tend to get a lot of donations.
Reddit Lebanon team is not affiliated with this NGO at all. We don't work with them or volunteer with them. They don't even know we're doing this for them, but after asking a lot of people and researching as much as we could, we decided to ask whoever wants to donate to go ahead and donate to Nusaned NGO.
We contacted many people. We contacted volunteers that worked with them and we contacted the founder of the NGO and talked to them several times.
- The NGO started working in December 2019 after the thawra but before corona
- The NGO registered officially in May 2020 (2 months ago)
- Up until may 2020, all donations went 100% to the people in need. All transportation costs + etc were paid by the founder and her friends. they couldn't sustain it that way because the needy sky rocketed after corona so they decided to take maximum of 10% of the donations to cover operational costs, she said up until now they didn't take more than 3-4%
- Through the founder's contacts, they were able to get PWC to audit them free of charge, and this report will be published on their website, but the first audit will happen in December 2020, because the NGO is not a year old yet
When we were searching for NGOs we wanted to find a new/small NGO to support because old/big NGOs already get a lot of donations. We won't make as much difference as when we support new/small NGOs.

The NGO description:
As the Lebanese economy struggled, businesses shuttered, unemployment rates reached unprecedented levels, and poverty numbers spiked, the management team at Sirajart unanimously agreed to divert the company’s commitment and energy towards charitable social work. Their move was envisioned as an integral part of their corporate social responsibility. This shift proved to be the catalyst to create Nusaned in December 2019, just two months after the October 17th Uprising in Lebanon.
Nusaned began by reaching out to local stakeholders in North Lebanon, seeking to address agricultural deficiencies of marginalized rural communities. The poverty, deprivation, and substandard living conditions of local residents prompted our team to respond quickly by providing much-needed food parcels, hygiene kits and clothing, while also initiating the rehabilitation of homes.
Through those spontaneous actions came the building blocks of Nusaned’s agriculture and housing projects, which gradually evolved from an aid model into a platform to foster self-sufficiency and economic sustainability for these communities.
