From the article:

Deters noted a "Drop the Charges" rally that occurred Tuesday following a motion filed by attorneys with the Cincinnati Mass Defense Coalition. The motion asks for all charges to be dropped in connection to the over 500 people that were arrested during Cincinnati protests.

"For a curfew violation, spending the night in jail's probably enough," Deters said.

But Deters does not have a say when it comes to misdemeanor charges. The Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office handles all felonies for the city and within Hamilton County. Misdemeanor prosecutions – such as curfew violations – are up to the City of Cincinnati, Deters said.

The following people were indicted as of Thursday:

Brennon Thomas, 23, of Independence, is charged with two gun-related felonies.

Rowan Grisez, 20, of Clermont County, is charged with assault after documents state he "tried to punch" a police officer.

Tiara Ragland, 29, of Cincinnati, is charged with breaking and entering at the Marathon gas station on Gilbert Avenue.

Tanisha White, 27, of Cincinnati, is charged with breaking and entering at the Marathon gas station on Gilbert Avenue.

Zachary Zovic, 22, of Cincinnati, is charged with harassment with a bodily substance after documents state he spit on a police officer.

Solomon Zellars, 18, of Cincinnati, is charged with carrying a concealed weapon and improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle.

Joshua Thompson, 24, of Covington, is charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

Sierra Thomas, 34, of Cincinnati, is charged with breaking and entering at the Walgreens on Sixth and Race streets. Documents state a window was broken out.

Micola Pearson, 34, of Cincinnati, is charged with breaking and entering at the Walgreens on Sixth and Race streets. Documents state a window was broken out.

Lokita Matthews, 46, address unknown, is charged with breaking and entering at the Garfield Mini-Mart downtown.

Justin Crum, 35, of Cincinnati, is charged with two counts of breaking and entering and one count of vandalism after documents state he broke into Saks Fifth Avenue twice and damaged two cells at the Hamilton County Justice Center.

Warren Glover, 28, of Cincinnati, is charged with assault after documents state he grabbed for a police officer's shield and baton.

Juan Hall, 23, of Cincinnati, is charged with vandalism and two counts of assault after documents state he threw a rock through the window of a police cruiser with two officers inside who were hit with glass.

Imani Brazille, 22, of Cincinnati, is charged with harassment with a bodily substance after documents state she spit on a police officer.

This was a decent ways away from the protests/riots. These two are just criminals who took advantage of the chaos.

Thanks and wow, look at all the antifa bussed in from the hinterlands to incite chaos, anarchy and the revolution.

Did anyone say people were being bussed to Cincinnati?

3†
fuggidaboudit•

I was being facetious but yeah, there was talk of antifa involvement. Hell, some folks were convinced they were gonna bus them to Bethel!

2†
waytoolameforthis•

Antifa just means you're against fascism. So if there's antifa at a protest against cops, what does that tell you?

Oh you mean the things you read on reddit/facebook/twitter? 🙄

Gross that this is tagged as a "feel good story"

For real. It's really fucked. One of my friends is charged with a felony because he was assaulted by cops. This could ruin his life.

350 protesters were arrested in Cincinnati , and only 14 indicted ? I wonder how many of those were wrongful arrests.

The other reply points out how wrong you are, but additionally - almost none of these are wrongful arrests since most were for curfew violations. The simple fact that those arrested were outside in public at that time is evidence enough they were committing the crime they were arrested for.

You're not very bright are you?

I agree that the tickets given for curfew violations were justified, the protesters were violating curfew, not going to touch on the tactics I watched the police used on that Sunday evening down near Mohawk.

What I do find ironic is that the curfew was put ordered for similar reasons the mask mandate was, to protect the well being of the people and property of Ohio. Personally I think it makes the Cincinnati Police look very bad that they have no issue enforcing a city/neighborhood curfew related to anti-police brutality protests but they do have issue even reminding people that currently the emergency orders passed down from the Governor require everyone to wear masks.

We were forced out past curfew. We tried to leave and they teargassed and shot at us. We couldn't leave.

2
BlazinCaucasianFairview•

That is what I was getting at when I said I won't get into the tactics. I watched the police turn people away from leaving the CPD/Music Hall area when they were heading into OTR and downtown, this started as early as 20 minutes before curfew. The cops seemed to be herding the protesters up central past liberty and into the Mohawk neighborhood. I had the sheriff helicopter buzzing right over my house.

You show either 1: Complete ignorance of the legal system...or 2: That you didn't even read the article you commented on. Your response for that is a stupid and frankly childish insult? You should really work on educating yourself before making your "woke" comments that just show how ignorant you are instead of making stupid insults.

You're right. My friend is one of the ones indicted for felony assault of an officer. He didn't hit them, they attacked him, maced him four or five times, tackled him and punched him repeatedly. All for telling a cop to fuck off. Very much a wrongful arrest.
