I think Lavar would personally slap Steph in the face if it meant he could do whatever it takes to force LaMelo to the Knicks.

Right but he's a worse shooter than Frank, a worse defender than DSJ, and has motivation concerns like Knox. A LOT needs to go right for him and it's questionable to think that's a realistic expectation.

Played against better comp in the nbl than ncaa and Avgd 17-7-7, I think theres a lot of smoke and mirrors regardibg him cause of his family name.
The kid can flat out play, and id probably say the motivation concerns are from him wanting to be in the nba already rather than overseas, hes 18 and got shipped to australia, its understandable. Shooting stats look bad but only a 12 game sample size. Theres alot of room for improvement which i think hes capable of.
i might be a homer at this point but i think some of the concerns with him are exaggerated and if theres a chance to draft him, hes better than every other guard besides Edwards
Could someone explain this to me? Why would the teams behind us even be considering Lamelo/thinking of alternatives? We have the 6th best odds, chances are he wouldn’t even fall to us. If this was about the teams ahead of us then it would be a headline.

Because they have to think of the potential trade packages from the Knicks if they jump ahead in the lottery and the Knicks are deadset on LaMelo (who they might not actually want other than to milk the Knicks for assets). Same concept of what Boston did to Philly with Fultz.

I don’t think he’s the savior everyone thinks he’ll be and his shot is fucked. How long will it take him to rework it, if ever? If it takes a while, now we need shooters at the other spots and we don’t have that. RJ is a work in progress and Mitch is a rim runner. Even with two shooters around those 3, that’s still a clogged offense.

He's not going to be the savior. Nobody saying he will, everyone knows this draft is garbage and isn't expecting much.
He can still be a valuable piece to the teams future.
If we draft him he'll be the best playmaker we had since Chris Duhon and the best PG prospect we had since Mark Jackson.
If his shot sucks his shot sucks. But majority of the lottery picks have shit shots too so you'll pass on them as well because of it? You just have to draft, develop the weaknesses, and see who fits.

frank will be an above average 3 point shooter sooner rather then later. look at his ft per centage and look at his stroke its more beautiful then his beautiful face.
I love Frank. I think his shooting motion is strong, but that only takes him so far. He needs to get consistent minutes and then he needs to produce.
Yeah except Ball is probably about a 1000x better passer and ball handler than Frank. I’m saying this neither as a Frank hater or a Ball fanboy too. On top of that Ball is an actual PG who can run an offense. Seriously though Balls ceiling is about 100 miles higher than Frank’s.

People keep equating me comparing Ball and Frank’s shooting to me comparing Ball and Frank as an overall basketball player. I explicitly didn’t do that because Ball appears to be a better overall player in many (but not all) aspects. That doesn’t mean Ball should automatically be our pick. I personally think there are better prospects in this draft.
