Ain't no Sunshine - Bill Withers
Very heavy piano notes fill the background with a melancholy tone, starting this song off on a slow and sad note. This song expresses the loneliness of a man whenever his female companion goes away. The phrase "Ain't no sunshine when she's gone" becomes quite repetitive by the end (think stuck on repeat). I imagine a man in the corner of a dark house, talking to himself, maybe looking out of a window towards a storm.
This song is just sad, honestly. So dependent on the presence of one person that when she leaves (through death or by choice, or maybe she's on a trip once again) a dark cloud hovers over his life. Maybe not forever, but his life straight up crumbles every single time she leaves. This is clearly cyclical, alluding that she has left before. I can easily imagine this from the perspective of a dog towards his master.
This tells you that I enjoy being independent from others and do not respect (wo)men who need a life partner to feel happy.
