$50 and one day later..
We tore up my boyfriend's 20 year old, nasty carpet and put down wood laminate. It's nothing fancy, but we're happy with it! Sure, it's the cheap stuff and it's probably not that durable, but it looks nice and is much easier to clean. Plus, it just feels cleaner since we could have made our own beach with all the sand we swept up. The project itself was relatively easy with two people. We had to rip up the carpet and padding, remove the nails/staples from that, scrape up the bits left behind (the hardest and most time-consuming part), sweep and clean the bare floor, and then put the self-adhesive laminate down. I'm not saying this is the 'right' process, it's just how we got the job done. Anyway, if you have any questions, feel free to ask!
Also, I can't think of anything witty to say about it, but yes, the dog and baby are still here.
