In love with someone I can't have. How to get over them?

We're both in college, with a two year difference, me being the younger one and he has been together with his gf (who's pretty awesome) for a year. Last year we met on group trip to Mexico for a week, and I've liked him ever since because he just happens to be the most amazing person I've ever met. I value his friendship, and that of his gf, so even if they did breakup (and I doubt they would), I wouldn't make a move.

Liking him is hurting me emotionally because I know he loves his girlfriend, and doesn't see me as anything but a friend. The only possible solution is getting over him. How? Have you guys ever successfully gotten over someone just by wishing it so?
