My first build, looking for guidance. Rifle length A2.

Finally decided to get going on an AR. I'm an experienced shooter with a decent collection, very mechanically inclined, and I've done my reading on AR builds (including here at r/ar15 and I am a daily r/guns reader). That said, I'm still exploring the AR world and I can admit that I'm new to this, so bear with me.

THE CATCH

This is going to be a MA-legal AR. That means no flash supressor (basically, a pinned and welded muzzle brake/comp), no bayonet lug, no collapsible/folding stocks and if the build comes with a mag, it must be 10rd or less. Plenty of preban mags available in MA, so I'm not concerned if it even comes with a mag at all. The main points are a permanently attached muzzle break/compensator and no bayonet lug and a fixed stock.

THE BUILD

I'm partial to the A2, and it lends itself to MA compliance with the A2 stock. I'm looking for a rifle-length A2 build that is not tacticool. I'm not putting anything on it except a sling. A bare bones, basic A2 build with a complete upper (my next build will be a totally different situation but for my first, I'm not going to build the upper). Uses will include the 200yd target shoots at one of my clubs, other amateur competition, plinking/fun, etc. I've got other guns for home defense.

Open to advice on lowers. Looking to keep the price down. This started out as a "how cheap can I build a decent A2?" project, although I don't want that to compromise my purchase. I would like a chrome lined barrel.

Del Ton build: 20" Rifle kit 20" DTI 1x9 Chrome lined barrel Std Gas tube Std handguard Std bolt/carrier A2 grip Phantom Aggressive End Comp/brake, pinned and welded A2 front sight w/ no bayonet lug Std lower parts kit Std charging handle A2 upper A2 buttstock Total: $555 + s/h

JT build: J&T 20" Rifle Kit 20" Heavy Match 1x9 chrome-lined barrel Std A2 handguard A2 buttstock A2 upper Forged front sight base Std bolt carrier assembly (a titanium firing pin adds only $17, worth it?) Std charging handle Std lower parts kit Std A2 grip Troy Medieval Brake Total: $590 or $607 w/ titanium firing pin

Advice? Which might be the better build? Other avenues I might take? AIM Surplus has "Surplus" lowers for friggin $60. Spike's for $80. I've also been peeking at Aero lowers because of their low price and decent reviews.

If I don't get a response here, I'll crosspost to r/guns.

EDIT Yes, I know this is severely cheap for an AR. I did see Fartgasm's recent post that is essentially the same build with a flat top and carry handle. I'm looking for advice before I get started, though, and would like to see what people think about the Del-Ton vs. the JT build.
