Northmen Sellsword Companies (Spoilers Extended)

Thinking about the return of the Golden Company from across the Narrow Sea and Tywin Lannister hiring sellswords to fight on his behalf, had me thinking how awesome it would have been if one of the sellsword companies of northmen would have returned to fight for a King in the North.

From TWOIAF and Fire and Blood I we know of two free companies made up of Northmen:

• The Company of the Rose

and:

• The Wolf Pack

The Company of the Rose

Northmen who refused to bend the knee to Aegon the Conqueror and the Dragons:

Other companies of note include the Bright Banners, the Stormcrows, the Long Lances, and the Company of the Cat. Other companies besides the Golden Company have been formed by men from the Seven Kingdoms, such as the Stormbreakers, which was founded in the aftermath of the Dance of the Dragons, or the Company of the Rose, formed by wild men (and, according to some accounts, women) from the North who refused to bend the knee, after Torrhen Stark gave up his crown, and instead chose exile across the narrow sea. -TWOIAF, The Free Cities: The Quarrelsome Daughters: Myr, Lys, and Tyrosh

Obviously the name seems to tie with the Winter Rose and all the imagery with Lyanna/Jon from Ned's dreams/Dany's visions/Ygritte.

The Wolf Pack

Years later after the Dance of the Dragons, northmen who accompanied Cregan Stark to King's Landing, formed the Wolf Pack. It was made up of northmen and led by Hallis Hornwood (aka Mad Hal) and Timotty Snow (also known as the Bastard of Flint's Flinger).

The way the TWOIAF words it, it seems to imply that the Company of the Rose is still around, yet we get no mention of them in the main series. As of right now I think this is probably just world building, but I think you can theorize a bit with Justin Massey hiring sellswords and Jon/winter roses.

Either way I think it would have been cool if they returned, even if low in number to support Robb's cause.

TLDR: It would have been interesting to see one of the free companies made up of northmen support Robb after he was crowned
