Fuck, what an infuriating day today was. Just gotta keep telling myself this is the norm for the next year or so, and get back to tuning out.
As much as I hate everything about what the world has turned into, I can say that when the offices open back up it'll be difficult adjusting to actually going to work.
8:59, better get up for that 9am meeting.
lol my company knows better - meetings don't start until 10
So why should everyone else doing the right thing be punished for their stupidity by a potential longer lockdown. They need to be stricter!
Stricter in what way? Step it out - whatever you suggest remember we would all have to live with it.
Either enforce strict SD or close the shopping centres... Honestly believe the latter would be more effective.
I live in regional Victoria so I don't see the hordes of people at shops like you would in the city. I also don't enjoy going to places where there are crowds, and social distancing in my town is clearly in place within businesses, but not always strictly adhered to by everyone (E.g. I keep coming across people chatting in the aisles in close proximity). Lifetime habits are clearly very difficult to change for some people.
I don't want more involvement by the State or the police than is absolutely necessary so I'd rather we all help each other to adhere to the guidelines, by reminding each other, being mindful ourselves and remembering that most people are trying their best.
I understand that, its a fair concern to have - civil liberties are rarely given back if taken so its always a concern people should have. I guess it just upsets me that we can’t visit a single friend but can get a haircut. I feel if one isn’t allowed the other shouldn’t be either.
Overall its hard relying on fellow humans when some are so stupid and selfish lol.
I just believe we should do a hard and heavy lockdown instead of this half assed approach. This way its going to harm both mental, physical heath and some businesses.
Sadly, no matter what road is taken there will be people who don't like that option.
I would have liked our country to go for elimination of the virus, but I accept they chose something else. Now it seems to be a balancing act to try and keep some businesses afloat, some of the economy functioning, while trying to contain and flatten the curve.
I feel for those people who have lost their jobs, have or are losing their businesses. I know there are a lot of people hurting, and I don't think it's going to get better any time soon. Not trying to be negative, but just pragmatic about this new reality.
Let's look out for each other and do what we can to be kind and supportive.
I guess i just find it so hard to accept because i see other states who got to that stage by following that suppression method... I had hoped Vic would readjust with that proof and since out island nature truly gives us a fighting chance. Im trying to be optimistic but its just hard when so many are trying to do it well, only to potentially be kept back by others.
People complain about 'the nanny state' and it's because they act like petulant children! Selfish fucks.
Why..why are people not taking this seriously? Stupid fucks. Wear the mask. Sanitise the hands. Stay the FUCK INDOORS.

I walked around the cbd today. About half weren't wearing any face covering and not 1 police officer in sight to fine them.
My bad the fines actually start tomorrow. I hope they are ruthless
I had to go to my local supermarket this morning to get some Ant Rid. Bloody ants, they just appear out of nowhere! Anyway, so many people not wearing masks, and half of those who were had their nose uncovered.
Do these people think the virus suddenly becomes more potent at midnight?? Morons. This isn't the movie Gremlins.
It really isn't difficult, nor complicated.
then it's time to stop making them guidelines

This statistic, minus context, is useless.
How many could afford to take to time off? What level of support has government provided to help folks who may need to isolate?
I'm absolutely sick of government putting the blame on individuals when they knew this was coming in January and did sweet f*** all.
Yes, that includes Dan Andrews.
Do you need people to tell you and help you wipe your arse everyday also?
Take some personal fucking responsibility.
Does personal responsibility extend to feeding yourself and paying rent?
That's what plenty of people were doing when they went to work instead of self-isolating.
If government isn't there to provide support and keep folks safe during something like this, what's the fucking point of it?
Maybe just to build bombs & submarines, so you can feel like a big boy.
The government does supply support. That's the point. Much better to be a fucktard though and force the entire city to be locked down and more people to die though.

Grow up and stop blaming everyone for things.
Andrews himself said that a large proportion of the people not isolating after tests were precarious shift workers.
It's good that they're at least acknowledging this but fuck they need to hurry up with offering some decent support to these people, otherwise this is going to keep happening.
Right. But the headline isn't " precarious shift-work exacerbates public health crisis".
And there's a reason for that.
Of course, there are people that would rather the public be fixated on individual failings rather than systemic ones. Also I think more lurid stories about people being irresponsible are used to wind people up and generate clicks.
There’s $1500 payments, paid for by the VicGovt.
It’s highly doubtful 9/10 people with symptoms needed to be out there in public etc etc before being tested.
Everyone, step up together and just do the right thing.
You don't receive that money until after you test positive or have a close contact test positive.
So imagine you're a shift worker, you have mild symptoms, you get tested. Whilst you're waiting for your test, you don't have sick leave and can't really afford to miss any shifts. This process could be take up to a week. It's not a simple choice for this person to isolate.
The government really needs to step up and make that support more accessible, because a "large proportion" - Andrews' words - of people not isolating are shift workers, and this will keep happening until they recieve more support.
ok sure, maybe you don’t get $1500 until proven positive, but regardless, waiting “days” in many cases before getting tested, even though symptomatic, demonstrates where the individual priories lie.
For many people those days could be the difference between making rent, putting food on the table, or just keeping your job. Even if your situation isn't that precarious, the pressure to go to work even if you're sick has been and is enormous.
Whether or not these people's priorities are correct, it's pretty clear more can and should be done to support people.
Hugely privileged statement.
I've seen so many people wearing a mask without it covering their nose lately.
That indicates one thing. Their dicks hang out of their underwear
It’s not my fault my boxers are too short.
We all know who wears short shorts
Yep. Dick-nose.
Dick-noses everywhere....
