New and .... scared

Hello .

I am 26 and here’s my story that I am hoping everyone will say I am in the wrong place and been misdiagnosed.

I broke my ankle a year ago and received a plate and screws - with physio I recovered full function but the plate irritated my ankle and it would mildly hurt after long walks or wearing boots - my ortho said he would only remove it in a years time.

I was scheduled for surgery on the 16th to take the plate out, on the 1st I disclocated my knee (sane leg) gardening. Surgery went ahead and they asked if I was ok with a spinal block due to Covid. Minutes into recovery I told my wonderful nurse that my ankle hurt (even though the spinal block had frozen me from t7 down. I was at 8/10 pain with a full spinal block , and a nurse administering everything he could think of over the next 8 hours- fentanyl , hydromorphone, and finally ketamine and a nerve block to my leg as the spinal had worn off which brought it down to a 5 and I was admitted - I spent three days in the hospital getting 3 nerve blocks total and hydro every two hours . Physio cleared me to walk with crutches (but only with great success in the mornings when the nerve block was still effective) so I was sent home still in pain

Symptoms:

  • Moderate to intense Pain just below left ankle
  • My left leg is bluer-redder than the right by a few shades
  • swelling of the foot ankle
  • pins and needles in my toes/top of foot
  • mild numbness in the lateral part of my foot
  • sometimes I can bare weight on my foot other times I feel like a screwdriver is shoved into my heel / ankle
  • hot showers feel like tiny needle pokes on the left foot / ankle

If you’ve read this far , thank you
