I wonder if the winner will also get a skin as a price, like our regular League friends.
fuck yeah give me an Ossia that looks as horny as Kurumx
That would be so cool and create so much hype!
A molediver with a glass of milk would be funny

18 points feel such a small amount, it can end in 3/4 games
Well it's 18 and then win a game so it'll probably end up being a lot more.
yeah i know, its probably more likely to last more than the semi finals, just curious/odd that it CAN be shorter somehow
The fastest way would be to just win 3 in a row, but given the player level I doubt that would happen
And if it did than you better believe they deserved it lol
Yeah I mean if you are able to do well that consistently, I think you should win.
I dont disagree. I dont think the format is unfair at all, but having the possibility of the grand finals being 2 games shorter than the semifinals is a bit odd
You need to win 2 games in a row in the hardest lobby (in theory). 8x8x8. Most likely this ends in five - six games, possible 8 depending on how well each player is acclimated to the meta of the game and lobby at the time. Remember you also have to finish first to close out the lobby, meaning that grieving someone who is ahead is very possible.
A win give 10 points in the final so you can win with 1-2-1
Am I blind or does it say 10 points for 1st and 8 for 2nd?
I think this system was used in one KR qualyfier and it was good. Maybe u/colkang can help us by telling if there was some kind of feedback about it. But it sounds exciting.
The second day does seem like it was based on the Finals for KR but the KR Finals had just 4 games and whoever got first in the last game (provided that they hit the minimum point requirement) would win, regardless of whether or not they have the most points! It may sound wonky/maybe a tiny bit unfair, but it made the finals super exciting as people began to target the person would had the most points/felt strongest in the lobby after the point minimum was hit!!
Oh so the last game was more important than the rest. That brings kind of a special excitement to the viewer I think. Thank you very much colkang!!!!
4 games is minimum. It sounds like you have to get to 18 points and then score a first (3 games to get to 18+, then top 1).
you can score 18 with a first and second
8+7 is 15, not 18.
Edit: I'm wrong, didn't see that the day 2 point structure was different.
It could also take ages if noone gets first after having 18 points
Finals format is a bit weird. Someone who gets 1st/2nd/2nd/2nd could loose the tournament to someone who gets 2nd/4th/4th/1st. I guess they want that big moment of getting 1st place on the final game = getting 1st in the tournament, but I don't like it.
Or worse, 5 5 5 7 1 > 1 1 2 2 2.
Yeah, the main plus to this format is that it avoids the situation where the winner of the tournament is decided before the end of the final game. This way the end of the tournament will always be exciting
The format of being forced to win after reaching 18 points with no secondary win condition sounds absolutely awful. It basically means the person that wins the entire tournament could in theory have a SIGNIFICANTLY lower average placing than a lot of other players in the lobby
Imagine the finals going for 10 games after a 6 hour slugfest and someone with 19 points wins out over the 50 point player. This format is so weird, it's possible for someone to go 5 5 5 7 1 and then they win the tournament over someone who goes 1 1 2 2 2.
Would be better with something like first to 30 points or first to win after achieving 18.
Imagine you are at 17 points. Your best strategy to win the tournament is to intentionally go 8th and completely grief the players who are 18 or above. Just buy their units, make sure they don't win, take your 8th and then you are also at 18. That's kinda messed up IMO.
It actually sound more interesting when you talk about it this way, more strategy involve, but I do feel like they should put a first to () point to win as well there.
The date for EU finals in the post is currently incorrect. Finals to be held Sunday.
More info on EU such as broadcasters and full player list can be found here.
Really looking forward to bringing the action to the people!
What is the maximun number of games that can be played before there is a winner in the finals?
Imagine getting 18 pts and then you cant win.
Final lobby should have been first to a certain amount of points with negatives for placing lower.
This way it’s actually 1v1v1v1....
The way finals are setup now as soon as you hit 18 you are 1v7. Everybody will grief that one person and still earn points. Meaning if you are on the cut to 18 you grief that one person and make the cutoff to possibly win.
Not gonna lie I kind of like the needing a 1st after getting to 18 points because it pretty much ensures the final lobby will have to play risky in a 1st or 8th manner.
It would be so lackluster for finals to have someone go 1st, 2nd = 18 points and then they could just get an 8th or win or play Vanguard / mystic and coast to a top 4 if they added that you must top 4.
It also means that getting unlucky and placing 7th/8th in the finals doesn’t mean it’s the end of the road for you because of the 1st place condition.
I think it’s going to be pretty entertaining to watch and if you are truly the best TFT player in the world you will be able to get yourself a 1st place eventually.

When someone doesn't turn up, I'ma snipe the final lobby and be the WC.
One month to see Set 4, oh thats interesting
I actually like that after you hit the point threshold you have to hit first. So when the winners crowned hes legit the winner of the game. Its not perfect but i think theirs a way to implement this properly
So who are the players that qualified for NA
Was there any particular reason as to why Southeast Asia doesn't even qualify for worlds? Is our playerbase for the entire region significantly smaller than other small regions such as Turkey/JP that we can't even get 1 seed?
Or is it just Garena all over again? :(
The championship will be held in NA server right?
These remote games fucking non-NA players =)
Well is COVID fault... so I think a Remote World Championship is the only solution. I was just wondering about the server choice to provide player the best possible experience :)
Why would playing on NA servers be any better than EUW or KR or any other server?
NA is the most centralized server. Majority of the world gets an average of 200 ping connecting to NA which is playable. (Most NA players get 50-100 ping themselves)
Asian's get 300 ping on EUW which is one of the main reasons why Keane said he didn't play there in set 2.
Well is COVID fault... so I think a Remote World Championship is the only solution. I was just wondering about the server choice to provide player the best possible experience :)
probably because it is better linked to the rest of the worlds
And how do you qualify for the regional finals? Ladderboard?
Depended on each region
So it's already done?
Yeah its been done. Na has been calculating leaderboard points for the past 12 weeks, plus a 9 week liquid tourney series, plus a 3 week C9 invite tourney
Lets just hope it will be streamed in an EU friendly time. I am tired of tournaments starting at 1 am and me watching like the 1st match and then going to sleep
Wat servers this being played in anything other than home server is unfair for anyone for positioning purposes due to ping
Just wondering...why the hell is OCE paried up against NA...one one of the smallest servers against a server that has the arguley most recognized TFT players...

TL:DR
"the top 8 players and personalities from the League of Legends community"
No offense to them but I translate that as "Probably 8 kinda-famous-to-some people from NA who would stream anything else given the choice"
But I do hope I'm wrong and we see the big names from multiple regions rewarded for their investment in the game!
Well I would guess the goal is to bring in new audiences to the game for set 4, which is why they’re probably have personalities whose main audience won’t be automatically playing the new set anyways
At least it’s not a tournament/competitive format like the sets past have done, it seems like they’re making it pretty clear that it’s just to show off the new stuff
Yeah I understand but that makes it often underwhelming. If you don't have big communities watching because of their streamer, you won't have the viewership that'll draw enough new people in, that's my opinion on that, I just hope there's a good middle ground and that they're on it
It'll likely be the big streamers who play TFT but not at a pro level, so people like Scarra, Dog, Toast, and Hafu. It makes sense cause us hardcore players (members of this sub) will watch because we want to see Set 4, while the casual playerbase who follow those big streamers will watch because their favorite streamers are playing it.
This pulls in the highest viewership, which means more players in Set 4, which means TFT earns more money, which means more investment into the game.
The wording on the announcement is kind of vague; the players who make it to Day 2 will play on Day 3 for a very small prize pool in a much more relaxed format. One of the goals is to help audiences get to know TFT Esports pros and start to give them a platform (while having fun learning the new set), as most of them do not have their own audiences. It's an experiment and we'll see if audiences like it or not
Sounds brilliant!
Big guess would be YouTubers like Toast and Scarra but we’ll see
Can't wait for the loltyler1 tft stream
This is the point system that should be used in every game, rather than one where I lose 25 for a 5th place and gain 14 for a 3rd.
I read it so fast I didn't even see the Set 4 preview!!! Holy shit!!
Do we know who the players are yet?
All regional qualifiers are still happening
