Do we know if it can stand up to Alatreon though? I mean I don’t doubt it, but the only thing remotely close to an interaction they have, is the the Commission believes Safi’s existence is what drew in Alatreon.
Unless I’m forgetting something.

There's dialogue from the Field Team Leader where he's pondering the result of Safi vs Alatreon after hearing someone say it couldn't have just shown up for a fight.
The answer is it doesn't matter who wins because it spells destruction for us and anything around them, which is in my opinion basically Capcom saying "it doesn't matter".

I would love it if he made it but I can't imagine it. I honestly only expect 1 or 2 more monsters that are probably just a different version of what we already got (orochi Kirin, Rusted Kush, perhaps even Lucent or Molten), 1 or 2 more AT monsters (velkhana and Safi probably) and then Fatalis as the last.

I believe AT monsters will appear after the final update which would make sense to keep the game rolling for a while. Have a small team add in small easy content while the bigger team works on another game. Also the roadmap stated that it is going to be a returning monster, not an AT so it all points to fatalis and maybe a really quick lucent or rusted kushala, definitely not oroshi since frostfang took oroshi's spot on the list.

Oroshi Kirin was on the original leak list back in the day, so you never know.

And he was replaced by frostfang, oroshi would've been apart of leaked monster icons since he was supposed to be released along with alatreon right? It makes sense in my head but hey I might be wrong, and I hope I am

God, my favorite elder dragon with white fatalis as a close second. It's fight was so awesome and that moment when proof of a hero starts playing had me feeling all sorts of things. I'd be so happy to get the chance to fight it in the new world but I understand if it wouldnt make any sense.

I would love to fight Nakarkos instead in World, like maybe a new hidden area in the Rotten Vale that functions as an arena. I mean they already have the acid pool, so they can make a story about Nakarkos moving in.

Lore wise it would make no sense. When he appeared it was because of the amount of gunpowder in the fort you fight him in. He literally eats gunpowder so it wouldn't make sense in any way for him to be in mhw.

The commission clearly could have large stockpiles of gunpowder. Hell fighting Gog in the area with the remaining stuff from the Zorah fight could even work.

Your fight however it isn't known where they live and it has only ever appeared once. They are incredibly rare and have only been found a handful of times. It is also very hard for them to fly do to the tar that covers his body.

Let’s be honest, the devs would add a monster with as thin justification as needed just to have it in the game. Gog could already be in the New World, the commission could simply not have run into one yet. After all, they were there for 40 years and didn’t even discover the Elder’s Recess until either a little before or after the fifth fleet arrived.

Technically Gog was lured to the Battlequarters to be trapped for the hunt. Before it would sneak in and disappear in the night.
Do you honestly think Gogmazios evolved in the limited time Gunpowder was made? Or that gunpowder is somehow not made from natural minerals?

It's more processed and has extra stuff added in, but it's hardly different to what it normally eats.

I’m honestly expecting gore to make an appearance before any1 else, fatalis will probably be a final update monster, so hopefully gore will come back with a side story about containing the frenzy virus
I expect Ukanlos/Akantor. Ukanlos would fit in with the Iceborne theme.
I mean, the fall update is probably the last big one with new monsters, base world got 5 updates and this is iceborne's fifth one. Also it's the first time the roadmap doesn't say "more monsters coming soon".
