I live in California and there are currently several fires in my area. Ash has been falling for 2 days but just now half of a burnt leaf just landed beside me - closest fire is 15 miles away.
It is and it isn't, in 2017 2 fires almost destroyed my town. Huge wildfires. Hundreds of homes lost. 2018 and 2019 had equally devastating fires in the towns adjacent. While this fire is in my county, it would have to do a lot of damage very quickly to get to me.

Still terrifying. Fall in California is hell.
It would be crazy to experience that. Wildfires happen often where I am but not to the same extent
