Dear Cartoon Network... (Man-child rage)

Damn, I felt the same way when CN cancelled Samurai Jack, Dexter's Laboratory, and the Powerpuff Girls.
/gettin' too old for this shit.
2 Stupid Dogs
Ain't that cute. But your wrong!
[deleted]
Courage :(
courage the cowardly dog comes on regularly around 5 or 530 est
2 Stupid Dogs was when I realised I was old. I knew how to spot a shallow Ren & Stimpy ripoff from a mile away.
And now I have officially decided to spend my weekend having a Samurai Jack marathon. Thank you sir for reminding me.
[grinning] Get season 4. It's my favorite because I think that the artwork was the best, and the storytelling was top-notch.
When I was in high school, I got in contact with one of the artists who worked on Samurai Jack (I actually wanted to talk to him about Ren & Stimpy, so it was probably Bill Wray)... I wanted to ask him about the backgrounds he drew because I particularly liked them. He didn't seem interested, but sent me some background images (without the foreground stuff) from Samurai Jack. Though it wasn't really what I was after, I still thought it was cool.

But boomerang was for the old people :(
We are the old people.
And then John was the old people.
omg it's actually happened
THEN WHO WAS YOUNGINS'?
It was. Now it's for awesome late 90's/ early 2000's cartoons. at least in the evenings.
That's (surprisingly) on Cartoon Network weekdays at noon Eastern/Pacific time.
They didn't cancel Samurai Jack, they just stopped producing new episodes. A movie is in the making I believe.
I doubt it, Aku's voice actor died in 2006.
They can replace the voice actor.
Blasphemer!
That didn't stop the Air-bender cartoon.
I just checked the IMDb for that; it looks like it's stuck in development hell... :P
Adventure Time.
Regular Show.
Childhood extended.
The Amazing World of Gumball is pretty good too.
yes, but i don't fucking get problem solvers. why is that black man naked?
I swear to god the CN writers are trippin on acid, these shows are way to fucking fucked up to be kids shows.
I have a theory that there is a competition at Cartoon Network to see who can make the trippiest show after a week long acid binge.
the pilot for regular show was a short film where two mini-mart emlployees tripped on acid and turned into the racoon and the bird
basically the entire show is a trip
I don't think it's doing very well. While everything on the Monday night "new" block has been pushed into a one episode per show, hour long ordeal, Problem Solverz receives the absolute least promotion, even less than the live action shit.
I'll have to check it out.
This.
Cartoon Network died after Cartoon Cartoon and Toonami
I present to you www.toonamiaftermath.com
what...the..is this really happening??! If this is what I think it is /childhoodreclaimed.

For the lazy toonamiaftermath
EDIT: it wont create a link! the preview shows it though...o well
EDIT: Fracking http://
Add html://
Wait what when. Why did I not know of this?
ಥ◡ಥ I'M SO HAPPY...
How..Where?! when did you find this..
and now I don't need my tv. :]
Finally, a site that shows Lupin III. I don't know how to thank you enough.
ah yes, that
Anime Anime Anime Anime short block of good cartoons Smaurai Jack Anime Anime Anime Anime
Thank you, some one at least remembers when cartoon network was still good.I personally didn't like these new ones....pointless.
Whatever happened to the days of Ed, Edd n Eddy, Camp Lazlo, Billy and Mandy, and Foster's? Sigh…
At least they kept Adventure Time!
Reading that, I just kept thinking that one shouldn't taunt cartoon network. They have a knife, they have adventure time, and they're not above stabbing everything pure and wonderful in the back on a whim.
I remember when Cartoon network didn't have a SINGLE live action show. And when Cartoon-Cartoon Fridays were hosted by actual fucking cartoon characters. Fuck you CN, you've betrayed us all.
Actual cartoon characters with terrible immitation voices
This disappoints me. I remember back when I used to watch Cartoon Network, it was STRICTLY all cartoons. Now, all the shows I watched back then are either on Boomerang or have disappeared completely, and new shows dirty up the channel's current content. I am saddened.
Could be worse. You could be a science fiction fan, and have to deal with Firefly, Caprica, et al.
Firefly was my favorite show of all time...
You just salted my wound, brah.
I am a leaf on the wind.
Watch how I soar...
Farscape :(
I feel like Farscape pretty well ran its course. Its peak of glory was season 3.
It's just... it ended before it could finish...
On a very related note, I still haven't seen the Peacekeeper Wars. Thanks for reminding me.
Oh caprica... At least they provided a closure :/
I remember thinking when I was little how Nick had some real-life shows, but CartoonNetwork had none at all. They've taken the path of the deep end now.
noooo not flapjack!
Someone think of Peppermint Larry and his candy life...with the candy wife!
Chowder didn't get cancelled it ended because he became a Chef.
It actually did get canceled, in a weird way. The kid playing Chowder was starting to hit puberty (x.x) and they decided rather than replacing him, they would just end the show. You can tell his voice was changing by watching the final episode. There's a clear difference.
Oh wow I just remember the episode of him becoming a chef, but thanks for the extra info!
they canceled it because it sucked
Simple change of Stalin17's comic
Well, Fairly Odd Parents and SpongeBob are still on, but either way they're not the same.
I agree, their humor has completely changed. It's more just ridiculous attempts at humor by making as many goofy faces as possible.
The ninth "Oh god, why" face and the fifth "Sweet Jesus" face. There is no star yet, so don't hate it me if he edits it to something else.
Might be because the creator was going to resign after the movie, but then decided to be a producer.
The point is different. Nickelodeon is children's programming. The fact that they shower fewer cartoons does not imply they are no longer a children's network (actually the Nickelodeon of the late 80s and early 90s was also primarily live-action programs--does anyone else remember that weird show with the mannequin that came to life and ran a department store with a puppet security guard and a mouse?).
But a network calling itself "Cartoon Network" no longer showing cartoons all day is about as stupid as one hypothetically called "Music Television" no longer showing music videos all day. Oh, wait...
All That
Flapjack and Chowder were shitty shows. Bring back Dexter's Lab and Code Lyoko
Code Lyoko? Seriously?
Yes, that show was awesome
Still reruns on french TV stations, mainly Canal4 and France3
Wasn't it made by some French dudes?
[deleted]
Holy shit really? I fucking miss that show. I would literally do laundry just so I could watch it.
Chowder was great, you obviously weren't high enough while watching it.
code lyoko killed dragonball z...goddamn miguzi and right when i got cable too! so little, so full of joy at the thought of 4 episode power up sequences and shoutfests... sigh.
I really don't know any of those shows. Give me Johnny Bravo and Dexter's Lab back. Then I'll be happy.
Damn I feel old. When I saw this title I thought, "Awh, Dexter's Lab rage." The 'newest' Cartoon Network show I watched was the one about the kids vs adults.
I only picked the last few shows to be canceled that I liked. I was also watching Dexter's Lab, Codename: Kids Next Door, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Ed, Edd n Eddy, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Samurai Jack, etc.
They only have three shows now, that I actually enjoy watching. :(
Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends?
I love Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy so much that one of my dogs is named Billy and my cat is Fred Fredburger.
Oh god, Foster's was the best. I loved that show. Codename: KND was the show I was thinking of, but for whatever reason couldn't remember. I never liked Ed Edd n Eddy. Grim scared me because I was a twerpy little religious kid and thought it was satanic.
Courage was petrifying.
I loved Ed Edd and Eddy and Courage the Cowardly Dog and Kids Next Door... sad thing is I was already an adult when they all started airing.
I guess this is another reason to be glad I can't afford cable TV anymore: I don't have to see the horrible mess Cartoon Network's become.
So glad someone finally mentioned Fosters! It was my favorite, post Dexter/PPG era toons. I really wish they'd continue the DVDs, I can't find anything after season 2. T-T
Oh, that has sparked to memory one of my rages. Remember the show Sheep in the Big City? I loved that show, so much so that I wanted it on DVD. I waited for frigging years for DVDs to come up before finally giving up and just finding the episodes online and burning them to DVD myself. This is why people pirate.
Foster's, Billy and Mandy, Ed Edd n Eddy, and Camp Lazlo. All you really ever need.
I'll put this here. If you don't get the new kids shows anymore it just means you're now a grown up. Download or buy all the old shows and keep watching those and reminisce about the good old days here on Reddit. It's what grow-ups do.
Actually, I enjoy three of the shows they currently air: Adventure Time, Regular show, and Young Justice.
I should mention Nickelodeons old shows too. Spongebob Squarepants and The Fairly Oddparents are still airing new episodes, but they aren't very funny. I still laugh at the old episodes.
Not all "grown-ups" just settle for the old stuff and watch it over and over again. I enjoy seeing NEW things that are funny.
Alright. Maybe being grown-up then means that you start to realize that most of the things made aren't very good.
Dude, watch adventure time. It's fun on the surface, but has a subtle and depressing backstory that trickles down. Plus a dog with bender's voice!
is that a new one?
Yep, only about two years old at this point. But it's easily up there with the best of old cartoon network. Three of my favorites, which I feel give a good feel for the show, are mystery train, susan strong and trouble in lumpy space
I dare anyone to not love Lumpy Space Princess.
Lumpy Space Princess is AWESOME.
I dig. I'll go look into those!
LSP just won me over
I remember sitting down after school and watching Squirrel Boy. That show was decent but Camp Lazlo and the other ones was the bomb. Most shows now are relationship BS.
I agree with all of that besides Camp Lazlo. But I think they're compensating for their cartoon deficiency with Adventure Time, Regular Show, Young justice, Looney Toons, and something else.
Networks that show cartoons have just been going down the drain.
As retarded as destroy build destroy is, i will always fucking love Andrew W. K.
Agreed. That guy has charisma and musical talent.
I remember a year or so ago they were advertising all their new live action shows before the previews at a movie theatre. I didn't understand anything that was going on. And quite frankly, I was so fucking livid I couldn't even enjoy the rest of the movie. It was all I could think about. CARTOON Network. Are they just going to make a CN2 like when MTV thought it'd be cool to drown out all music with reality shows?!
WHEN IN THE FUCK DID FLAPJACK AND CHOWDER GET GODDAMN CANCELLED. I AM NOT OK WITH THIS
If Adventure Time and Regular Show get axed I'll lose my shit
If they cancel Adventure Time, I swear to Yao Ming, someone's corporate headquarters are going up in fucking flames.
New episodes start on the 11th ;]
That's when my night classes start.
Fuck.
I hope there isn't any homework.
best cartoon network show since ed edd & eddy
GOD DAMMIT DON'T REMIND OF HOW GOOD THE OLD CLASSICS WERE
DEXTER'S LAB
POWERPUFF GIRLS
ED EDD N EDDY
COURAGE
BILLY AND MANDY
FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU-
Damn those are 'classics'?
I was an adult when those were first around.
I feel old.
And don't forget
Two stupid dogs, Agent Squirrel (or sth like that) Wacky Races The Real Adventures of Johnny Quest Johnny Bravo Animaniacs Pinky & The Brain Megas XLR
etc etc..
Samurai Jack...
they don't even show that ed edd and eddy great picture show anymore it like had 1 airing weekend here! and that was it and they did'nt even RELEASE A FUCKING DVD
Cartoon Network's classics (Specifically Powerpuff and Dexter's lab) were the thing that got me into making comics. I doubt Dude What Would Happen or Hole in the Wall is inspiring anyone.
Then we have Problem Solverz which inspires murder...
I try to make people watch Adventure Time, and I always get them with this clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUbt-XClX0Y
It's just the perfect amount of random. Meaning all of the time.
The Eyes episode won me over.
"This horse is wack. It's got poo brain."
best adventure time comment ever
I'm not sure what happened, but that clip made me want to watch Adventure Time..
My favorite episode, hands down, is the one that starts and ends with a dude trying to sell them a demon heart.
"Sweet, full circle!"
Not Chowwwwwwwwwwwder !!!!!!!!!
I know. It's not like we can go to Nickelodeon anymore :(
It sucks too since Nickelodeon is just Disney now. With even less humor, if that was possible.
Well. iCarly isn't that bad.
I'm going to defend you here - I do think Jerry Trainor is hilarious and the one saving grace of that show.
They made fun of the entire .net domain, yeah, it's that bad.
That is about as bad as it gets.
There's still Avatar, which is pretty damn good. There's going to be a new series that follows the Avatar that succeeds Aang. I think it's one of the warriors of Kyoshi.
She's a water-bender. It's called Legend of Korra
J.K. Simmons voices one of the main characters
Are you serious?!
I'd be excited for it if they'd give us anymore details. All we've got so far is a basic premise and one piece of concept art.
No, it's a waterbender.
avatar is terrible.
Chowder wasn't actually cancelled, the creator stopped working on the show.
same with Flapjack. They offered Thurop a 4 season I heard, but he wanted to ended it.
It just wasn't renewed. According to C.H. Greenblatt, Cartoon Network always does this instead of actually cancelling shows. So Chowder and everything else weren't cancelled, but basically they were.
Chowder was the shit.
I'M GODDAMNED PISSED
LIAR.
I'M GUNNA MURDER YOU
Agreed. Those are the only shows worth watching on Cartoon Network these days. But how the fuck were Chowder and Flapjack cancelled??? COME ON!!!
Also, thanks to OP for remembering Camp Lazlo. Classic.
[deleted]
When the fuck did these shows even start showing? Back in my day, we watched real cartoons on Cartoon Network.
The real cartoons are now on Boomerang.
Adventure Time is renewed up to Season 3 (total of 78 episodes), with a possible fourth (Total of 104)
Regular Show is renewed upto Season 3 aswell (total of 80 episodes)
Relevant subreddits: r/adventuretime & r/regularshow
I don't 'get' Regular Show. Maybe I'm too old.
I thought I didn't get it until I watched a couple episodes. It grew on me.
I didn't get regular show too, until I had some Salvia.
you gotta give it time
[deleted]
If they do, I hope there's a nationwide riot.
fuck every single one of these shows.
