Being an expert in your field doesn't make you an authority on everything. Plenty of other people with much more relevant experience have come out saying it is extremely unlikely to be a synthetic virus.

This is one guy speculating, and peddling conspiracy theories for profit. Don't believe these theories unless a lot more convincing evidence emerges.

This source is poor quality. I ran a search and can't find a credible organisation promoting this story. I also question an article that wastes so many words begging the expert is not "a crank" and crying about being accused of conspiracy and fake news.
