Ha!
I was not expecting that speed on the way up. congratulations! made it look way too easy
Thx so much.
Jesus. That was nice to watch.
Glad you liked it. Stay tuned, more crazy shit to follow next meet.
Didn't you tear a pec a while back? Looks like the recovery went pretty damn well! This is badass as hell dude, you fuckin smoked it. Congrats!
Yeah, it’s been 3 years ago that I tore it. Recovery has gone extremely well. I’m stronger than I was before I tore it.
I remember you posting the pictures, but somehow I didn't realize it was that long ago. I'm glad to hear that it's going well. Clearly it is, based on this bench! Cheers.
Yes, the only real difference is I start putting on equipment earlier in the training session than I would had I not torn it, but with BenchDaddys and shirts and such I am fortunate enough to still be able to train and compete despite that torn pec, two torn labrums and two torn supraspinatus tendons.
Does the suspraspinatus ever heal properly?
How much do max raw?
I have no idea what my raw max is. Ever since tearing my pec, which you can see in my post history to this sub, I don’t go heavy raw.
Oh, sorry to hear about the pec injury. How did it happen?
Bless your heart for posting this and saving me from retelling it the bazillionth time ;-)
How much fun is archery?
The funnest!!!
Fuck yeah man! Congratulations! Man I love those Bench daddy shirts. So fucking cool to see that kind of speed hahaha.
Thank you.
Nice bench, flew.
How hard are those style bench shirts to get on compared to a regular shirt like a katana or similar? Does it take a couple guys?
WAY easier to get in and out of these and they aren’t nearly as finicky on sizing, either. I can get in this one with the help of any one person. Doesn’t have to be a big strong person.
Username checks out! That was an insane lift!
Lol, thx lighywuh
The control and speed were insane. Congrats my dude
Thx so much.
From a Masters 2 220 raw lifter - holy cow, that was beautiful. I'm closing in on HALF that weight, and pretty pleased.
Thanks so much. And to be clear, I am a Masters-2 198’er moonlighting at 220 purely to get this record, and am heading back to 198 ASAP. But thank you so much for the kudos and may I assume from your username that you are a fellow member of the bar?
Yes. We have a bit in common - I'm a bald guy lawyer powerlifter with facial hair who lived in Collin County (I was there 1987-1990, between undergrad and law school). I'm in-house though. You ever do EDTX patent defense work?
That’s hilarious. Howdy. And no, I have no clue what that even means. We do plaintiff Pi work based out of McKinney.
With equipped bench pressing, does you have to pull the bar towards your chest? Or how does it work? Because you seem to have a harder time getting the bar to your chest than back up again.
On the way down I’m trying to go slow and controlled because I’m trying to hit a very specific spot. On the way up, however I just want that heady SOB off me, so I’m going as fast as I can.
How much can you bench without equipment?
No idea. Not very much tho.
Great lift. Super fast and impressive. What happened right at the end where it tilted to the right? The spotters didn’t touch it.
Technical fault on my part that very nearly cost me the lift. I locked it out faster than I was expecting to and lost balance at the top a second after lockout. Fortunately they called rack just at the moment of lockout as the rules require and I was awarded the lift. Not my cleanest lockout for sure.
I thought maybe you were expecting them to take it or help on the command and they didn’t. I can hear the rack command
Congrats man, looked super easy!

How did it move that fast
Because I wanted it off me as quick as possible? Bar was moving pretty fast off the chest yesterday, for sure.
It was rhetorical but thanks

Congrats man! Looked like a speed rep! Can’t even imagine what that would feel like getting out of the rack.
Thx so much. Took a run at 805 too, but lost it at the top. . . Next time ;-)
How come there’s such a big gap between your attempts ?
Once I set the ATWR I wanted to hit the 800 club milestone and having hit it several times in the gym had every expectation I’d hit it in the meet also.
There is an 800 lbs club?
He might have went in the warm up room and hit a weight in between the 722 to 801 so the jump wasn't so huge on the platform.
