Twats on electric scooters

Last week I was on my way home from doing some shopping, I was listening to music and just walking on the pavement and suddenly one just barely missed me from behind. If I had taken a slight to the right it could've been a serious accident as it was downhill. These things are really dangerous and they are getting increasingly more popular.

There really needs to be appropriate legislature on where they're allowed to be ridden. They're not road-safe, but not really safe for the pavement either. Maybe they could be restricted to just cycle lanes and wide pedestrianised areas.

There already is legislation covering their use; with a few exceptions, it is illegal to ride them on the road or the pavement.

However, getting the law enforced is a tad problematic - see cyclists on the pavement for the same issue.

There is. They're legally classed as motor vehicles therefore it's illegal to use them on the pavement. They don't fulfil the requirements to be road legal therefore it's illegal to use them on the road.

There are some places that are currently trialing them, my area (teesside) being one of them. They can only be used on roads of cycle paths, and it only applies to the private hire ones. Ones people have bought themselves are still illegal.

You need a full UK driving license in order to use it, and you are now required to scan your license in order to rent one.

Why would you make a comment about this when you don't know anything about the topic?

They’re a good idea in theory, but the wankers using them are going to get them banned.

Yes I can imagine that happening, I've seen people even weaving between other people on busy high streets, these things are just accidents waiting to happen.

Take them out with big stick

They have always been banned. They have just recently been legalised for the first time, in very limited situations.

I love what they did in Germany... Made them legal, but you need a driving licence, Oktoberfest came around and because you need a driving licence there were suddenly a lot of people getting busted for drink "driving" and losing their licences.

If they bump into you say it was a attempted bag snatch/pickpocket and defend your property.

I had some twat hog the middle of the road whist driving - no care for anything slowing traffic down to 10MPH

Whilst I agree with you that they're dangerous and annoying,

If you have headphones on in public (with both headphones in your ears) you are essentially deaf maybe they called out to you telling you they were coming up behind you and because you had headphones in, you couldn't hear them?
