Is D2 even worth coming back to at this point?
Been away for almost a year and a half, is weapon sunsetting the final nail in the coffin for this disappointment of a 200$ game?

I said this once and got silently downvoted.
If I had been able to use my fatebringer in TTK, I wouldn't have played for half the time that I did.
Downvotes literally is just who sees what you post. I've had times where I've posted the same thing. One gets downvoted. On gets upvoted. Its all based on which crowd sees.
I actually never played destiny 1 so....
?
Super subjective question. I guess it depends on what type of games you love. Why do you play? What are your expectations
From the way you ask the question it is clear you have strong negative feelings towards the game. If you don't like it, don't play it. It's that easy
Not to mention if OP really wanted to test the game out again he could try some of the New Light modes.
I dont, and im not.
Im asking if anything in the past year and a half has been substantial enough to warrant a return, but i guess i have my answer lol. Enjoy sunsetting i guess.
There's plenty of people who enjoyed the game half a year ago and still do now. Sure it's never been perfect, but it's never been bad either in my opinion. A bunch of things were changed and improved though to answer your question:
There is a new type of engrams that lets you somewhat choose your rewards
Trials was somewhat fixed with the 3 victory farming, you can also get some rewards for participating even if you don't win enough
The new dungeon is quite nice
Currently raids have no reward cap so you can grind until you get all the things you want without having to wait for reset
The new exotic trace rifle is a lot of fun
The new dungeon is a lot of fun and worth checking out in my opinion
This isn't everything but it's clear improvements in the game. Obviously a lot of things will change soon with Beyond Light coming out
How does that work? Thats actually kind of interesting. Like, you pick the mods or the gun/armor? Do they drop in open world?
I always liked trials, but the biggest hangup with destiny 2 pvp for me will always be the fact that its p2p. Wireshark is an extremely easy to use tool that practically everyone at higher ranks (at least back when i played) used. Did they ever fix that or introduce some sort of anti cheat?
That might be just be good enough to rope me back in. Ill probably hold off a bit to see how sunsetting turns out before actually investing my time back into this, but
The engrams drop randomly in the world but you don't bring them to the cryptarch. Instead there's a machine next to the drifter that decrypts them. There you can also choose to pay some new currency (you earn it through doing the weekly quest and through bounties, but it's not hard to get) to turn the engram into a more specific one. Progressing the season pass lets you narrow this down more.
The choices at the first level let you choose whether you want a new weapon, an old weapon or armour. At second level they have two possible weapons they can drop (e.g. cold denial and falling Guillotine only) and at third level they drop armour with a focus on a certain stat that you can choose
Not too sure how much has changed regarding cheating in trials as i've never played too much of it and i've never encountered problems with cheating.
To alot of players, there has been though. But the way you framed your question clearly shows you won't care either way. You're more fishing for someone to go "nah man the game is shit".
Like what
It'll keep me playing. Kept everyone playing thru TTK clearly.
