Great way to mix recent events with the natural order of things. As sad as it may be, mother nature is one hell of a beast and some days decides it's not taking any prisoners. We have lost a legend and he will be forever missed.
With the piece specifically, I really enjoyed the flow. It comes out very natural as if carefully planned and that's not an easy task most writers can grasp on. The word choice here is also excellent and really makes me feel this sort of dread and sorrow. I hope to see more from you in the future.
Your rhythm, line breaks, and word choices are executed flawlessly. If am reading this properly, near the end the narrator ends up in a sort of purgatory or in-between state. My only critique is that it ends so abruptly on that sentiment that the sentiment and the rhythm of the poem creates a sense of disjointed-ness. It's like the whole poem is talking about this and that and then at the very end it's like "Also this other thing". For me, that removes me, the reader, from that feeling of purgatory. You may have meant for that to happen but, in my preference, I like to be swept along for the ride. So, I should re-affirm that this critique is more sourced from a place of personal preference. Again, well-executed and thanks for sharing.
