Wow, I really love this! Such powerful phrasing, like the coupling of the “icy upper bay waters” with the women’s tears. Great imagery. What did you have in mind thematically?

So I had an image in my head of all of the men, angered by the ousting of a misogynistic and male dominated world, walking with their tiki torches (a reference to the prolific photo that was shared around of a trump rally) directly into the upper bay. It's half a display in defiance of Lady Liberty, to show that they can be their own Male representation of liberty by creating and carrying their own torches. They end up almost drowning because, due to male privilege, they've never had to realize that the women in their lives are what gives them buoyancy, they just end up battling the waves that are the unacknowledged tears of those women. Then in the end, they dont really have to face consequences, they get to lounge and recoup on the back porch. Part of starting with the fact that I was on the back porch was my acknowledging that I too am a man (a white one at yhat) and am afforded alot of privileges because of that. Though being gay, im still slightly on the outside of all of it observing from a distance.

So that's what I was thinking with this one, sorry if all of that didn't quite come through😂 i have a very visual brain so sometimes I can't tell if I'm letting the reader into what I'm seeing in my head enough.
