Scalpers and flippers

I went away from collecting black series a year ago, but became super excited to see a hondo figure come out. Hondo has been one of the more enjoyable characters in my opinion . So I patiently waited for the release only to get screwed every time I go to target. I had an employee offer to sell me one he had bought for $60 which I politely turned down. Then OfferUp and eBay are littered with people over charging. It really disgusts me because some of us enjoy collecting and shouldn’t have to be victim to those who “are in it for the hustle” as a private seller put it on offerup. With that, if anyone has a reasonable price for hondo and a mountain trooper please message me. Have a great weekend everyone.

A target employee offered for $60?! I would report them. Bad guest survey at the very least.

Yeah it sucks. Too many exclusives is a major cause.

I started ordering from uk sites like forbidden planet, cost a bit more for the shipping but way less than 60$

Scalpers can eat a dick. You can't find cody for less than £120 in the UK and they're on ebay second hand. One site (Toys Central UK) is even selling him for £292 reduced from £486!!! That's almost 300 on one figure that is getting re-released next year in the archive line for £20.

But do you know what will happen when he gets released next year? The scalpers will be clearing the shelves and selling them for double, triple or even quadruple the price. I paid £19 for the new archive anakin and now you can't find them for less than £40 and before archive he was going for double or even triple that if i remember correctly. I know palpatine definitely was. And in time the archive anakin will be back up to 70+ pounds and the cycle continues.

These people don't give a damn about these figures. They don't want to collect them for display purposes, photography or even to buy them as gifts. Just like the people who scalp TVC don't care about the nostalgia factor or the long-term investment. All they care about is clearing shelves of sought after characters at retail price and flipping them for 2 or 3x as much for a quick buck. They ruin it for people who genuinely want these figures and it pisses me off so much. That combined with Hasbro's dodgy distribution makes it incredibly hard to get decent stuff in-store in the UK at least. If it wasn't for places like star action figures i probably wouldn't even bother collecting them.
