That looks delicious. Also, nice knife!
Thanks I use that knife every day! The other knives in the set hate me I think. I’m going to make a new batch tomorrow I think. I’ve let about 30 of the peppers get nice and red and a bit wrinkled and they are ready.
Edit: Ok you inspired me. Final batch from the plant on Day 256: https://imgur.com/gallery/QujBj7t
Question. Did you just plant and they grew, or do you have cross pollinate?
I just planted them and they go from green to wrinkled green to red.
Thx🙂
Peppers are a plant that don't require cross pollination. You CAN cross pollinate, if you're gojng to plant the seeds from the fruit you get, if you're trying to make a new cultivar. But if you're just growing to eat them, peppers are a self pollinating plant, as are tomatoes. You can just give the plants a little shake, and the pollen will move inside the flowers and each flower will pollinate itself.
recipe please
Ok...sorry I wish I was more fancy. Here goes. Toss all this into a blender and purée. Use this on whatever it’s perfect.
12-20 Jalapeños tops discarded, sliced into 4+ pieces
2-3 cloves of garlic chopped up
1/2 to 1 Tablespoon of Salt
1/4 cup of White Vinegar
1/4 cup of Water
how long does it keep?
I’ve never had any longer than a few weeks(because it’s gone), but I hear it lasts a few months in the fridge. It probably lasts longer the more vinegar you use. Some people cook it, some leave it out to ferment. I don’t know how that changes the lifespan though.
thanks! i have ~50 serrano peppers i need to do something with
