Rift S External Microphone Suggestions

Tech Support

I'm having the dreaded static/robot voice issue with the Rift S microphone right now and its driving me crazy. I feel like its happening a lot more than it used to in the past. The worst part is that I can't tell when its happening on my end so if I'm playing a multiplayer game I'll probably get muted or I'll have to explain that Facebook doesn't seem to care about fixing this issue for the millionth time. You think they would try to fix this considering that they're trying to launch their own social VR thing like VRChat. I've already tried all of the solutions I've seen online and none of them seem to fix my issue.

I have a set of Anker Soundbud Slim earbuds that I can use for a mic but the sound quality on them is garbage. I'm aware of the ModMic Wireless but I don't feel like dropping $120 to fix this issue. I also don't want to try using a really long wired microphone either. I already have a decent set of headphones so I don't really want to buy a really expensive headset just for VR.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a wireless headset/microphone that will fit over a Rift S for around $50-60?

This might be worth a try before committing to buying an external mic.

Thanks for the suggestion but that didn't seem to fix my issue. I ended up ordering a used ModMic Wireless on eBay for $70. Pretty annoying how Facebook completely messed up on the audio for the Rift S.

I don’t know what your opinions on razer is but I bought the nari essential it fits over the rift nicely and the earcups are big so you don’t really notice it. The mic is much better than the rift s mic but I’d say it’s pretty average compared to other headsets. I got mine on sale for 80 bucks so it’s a little more than you said but I’d say it’s worth it.
