Fans attitude for their region at Worlds

This post is mainly focused on fans from the NA region, but can also apply to other regions as well. What is the point of shit talking and having such a uncooperative attitude towards NA teams that head to Worlds each year? Sure I get that many fans are tired of NA team’s poor performance each year, besides cloud9 in most years, at Worlds. But why hard flame your region that represents you?

Even though Worlds is not technically a “World Cup” since each team can have more than more nationality, it basically is one. During Worlds Cups or Olympics the fans from each nation/region always cheer and hope that their region does their best. Yes fans and people from the industry can be critical of their team that represents them. But in LOL, especially in NA, there is this need to flame your region for some reason.

Yes, after all these NA teams fail to make it out of groups over the years fans can less hopeful/enthusiastic about their region. But it’s not like all the NA teams that go to Worlds are getting hard stomped and have no chance making it out. Most of the time cloud9 gets out of groups and at least 1 other NA team is like one game away from getting out.

And yes it’s easier for the other major regions to be more excited since they have a better record for their teams performing well at groups. But what’s the point in fans being toxic/hard flame to the teams heading to worlds. You want your team/region to perform well so why not just cheer and get excited. I mean even the fans of the wildcard regions in LOL cheer their teams as much as they can, even though most of the time they have no chance in performing well at Worlds. They are just happy they get to see their region be represented at Worlds.

This is one aspect from esports/gamer culture (whatever you want to call it) that I hope changes faster. Which is this need to flame your region/players. In traditional sports it’s simple, you have a favorite team or player in that sport’s league. You hope they perform well enough to win. If they perform well enough they may be selected/earn a spot for international competition. If they don’t that sucks but you still want your region to perform well so you cheer/hope that team does well. So what’s the point for being negative towards a team that is representing you.

I don't get the point of trying to convince people otherwise.

I think the lack of support for the NA teams is needed to finally experience some change. You can't compare a major region with bigger funds with the minor ones. Why should people cheer for something bad that can be fixed rather easily?
