American here... questions about work visa's/factory work
I posted this earlier in r/documentaries, but figured I would also come here with a few questions. I'm in my 20's, have been a photographer/videographer since my teens and currently work in the fashion industry in NY. I've recently decided I need a change, and have been asking myself the difficult question of what I want to do next. In light of a number of recent articles about the working conditions at various factories throughout the world that many of the people I work with use for their productions, I have decided I want to go and spend a year working at one of the factories to make a documentary about the working conditions. I plan on raising the money necessary to get there & back, and possibly enough money to cover my 1st month of expenses, but beyond that I have no intention of spending outside of the budget that's provided by the work at the factory. What I want to know is, what sort of visa would I need (if any) to do this for the year, how plausible is it that the factories would hire an american, and are there any big risks that I should be aware of before getting into this?
Thanks all!
