might as well post since no one else did, not as bad as i expected
sevenven
only songs from this guy i liked before this EP were GOTHAM, BODYCOUNT and GOODMORNINGTOKYO but this shit realllly feels like some XXXTENTACION music i cant lie. lots of vibe switch ups but it was overall decent
Was just looking for this post a few minutes ago, tokyo is really talented even if the execution doesnt always land lol. only on track 3 but all solid so far
this is interesting. feels extremely experimental and versatile. not exactly my type of music but i like it
This different. I like that. I hear xxxtentacion influence. I hope this kid makes it big.
i hoped too, i hope he learns out of his mistakes
I like him. Seems like a straight up style cop from X, Ski Mask, and Denzel but I’m hoping he can find his own moving forward because I hear the talent.
Honestly though he can keep putting stuff out just like this and it’ll earn some plays during my workouts lol
i think it's a little fucked to just compare every single aggressive rapper who comes out with fast flows to X, Ski and Denzel. his music has some similarities to them, yeah, but if you need to cite 3 people he is coping styles, it's not a copy, it's legit just a different style. he does the X singing thing, but that's not unique to just X. imo Hell Bent with Laroi sounds more inspired by Juice than X, but that could just be because Laroi is on it and hes probably the closest living person to Juice
If his voice didnt sound like X, nobody would compare them outside of branching out into other types of music and probably the little 10 sec intros in the beginning of his songs that are X inspired for sure. wouldnt even really call them the same branching out types, Xs branch out songs were all closer to lo fi than Tok's which sound more an emo Weeknd than X.
ive actually done some listening between the two because i was a pretty big fan of X's aggressive and his lighter stuff and im a pretty big fan of Tok too, but i'd say listen to songs like RIP Roach, Look at Me and Yung Bratz and then listen to Bodycount and Gotham. The differences are pretty stark, the closest that it comes imo is Look at Me's second verse vs some of Tokyo's stuff.
I think you're right that he has some parts of those three guys, his bars are actually way closer to Ski's than anyone else's (which i dont mind at all, more people need witty bars like Ski's), but I wouldnt really say that's a bad thing. just because your style is inspired by or similar to someone doesnt make it a copy or bad, just is what it is
Well-written
Yeah I agree with most of this. I did say that I like him and listen to his music haha. I’m just hoping to hear something more unique as he progresses as an artist because I think he’s good enough to branch out a bit more.
oh yeah for sure, that's just a pretty common Tok comment, as if having any influences completely invalidates someones music

Completely agree, I think x and some other similar artists paved the way for new up and coming artists like Tokyo and Jasiah and consider them more inspired than just copying. I just think that whole style is jusr hardcore rap, tons of rappers are doing it stop calling them x clones lol
More varied and honestly a lot better than I expected
Not rocking w this at all. It’s all over the place and most of it mid
Agreed, only highlight was deadmanwonderland for me and even that wasnt anything great. Im usually very conservative with my use of the term “clone” but this dude sounds so similar to X and ski it’s ridiculous.
He said himself that this ep was for him to just be creative and do whatever he felt like
Gotta say I was a semi-fan of Tokyo before this EP. i love the experiential way he went with this, each track is different enough to keep you on your toes. I don’t think I dislike a song on here. Props to Tokyo on this EP.
7/10, i think he can do better but i already like what i’m hearing. He can definitely do better than this if he keeps it up.
X walked so Tokyo's Revege could RUN. Im liking this tape

What a waste of a LAROI verse
nah laroi is ass not a single good song he a clown his album was one of the worst i heard this year
not a single good song
Oh, so you’re a hater. Carry on, because that’s just false
I mean he's a hater, but Laroi isn't objectively good. He makes teenage heartache music for teenagers who's hearts ache. Which is all teenagers. And that's fine. But he's one of those artists you grow up and learn they're just a guilty pleasure.
He has a good ear for melodies. Writing isn’t the strongest, but he’s 16. Certainly not going to say he can’t continue to get better
Laroi mid but he gettin love from teenagers because he makes that teenage heartache shit.
This is just my opinion but I feel like this fool is an absolute XXXTENTACION clone. Am I trippin for thinking that? The aggression and flow switch ups and shit idk it's uncanny. His shit seems kinda forced tho
It’s like a direct clone, but without any emotion. Ik this sub isn’t really a fan of X, but at least he can carry his tracks.
I mean I’m not huge on X but at least he was unique and he was good for his style. It’s just corny to clone him.
Is your username a reference to Alien from Yandhi
Yep
You don't think he comes thru with emotion on sinner pt 3?
Just listened to it - It definitely has more than anything off of mdnght side b but it still feels artificial because it’s derived from others’ emotions. Every song he’s done is a song X already has in his catalogue. Sinner pt 3 felt like an amalgamation of something off of 17 as well as something off 808s or ye with a major pop influence added in. I’m not sure how much he’ll be able to improve when he really isn’t creating anything that hasn’t been created before.
Are you aware that people can feel the same things?
You had to mention three completely different things to describe the song. At what point are you just a hater?
I mean, you don't like the song you don't like it. But fuck off with this stupid 'clone' bullshit when you are all over the place when you're trying to describe his style, I mean Jesus Christ you're claiming the dude is copping EMOTIONS. Lmao, wtf dude!
God you people are annoying. Can't fathom someone just trying to make good music from the heart without trying to change the game.
"It didn't help me quit drugs, 5/10", y'all set the bar unrealistically high.
It definetly is but he reminds me of Nuketown style Ski mask with x’s voice. He definetly has more of a comedic rapping style
Yeah I hear more ski mask for sure with a bit of Denzel Curry
Yes absolutely, and just when I was thinking there wasn't really anyone filling that lane.
I just discovered him this morning and I'm definitely digging it.
