Fresh meat... (Newbie)

Just downloaded the game but I will make a character tomorrow. (Well, it's almost 2 a.m. so after I wake up. ;P )

Just thought I'd say hi. Not sure what I'll make. I've played many MMORPG's on the PC and did play a bit of Skyrim (awesome game).

Are racials something to keep in mind or is it just a small benefit and it's ok to go for looks?

I did take a look and noticed I'll only have a choice between 4 classes. If I did the monthly would that unlock the DLC's and other classes or is all of that separate? If so, what all does the monthly unlock and is it worth it?

I know I can figure this all out and do my own research and watch videos, but I'd rather ask some questions here and get a rapport with the community. ^_^

I enjoy playing as classes with a lot of AoE damage and CC. Like a frost mage in vanilla WoW. Also loved the Warrior for tanking and helping a lot of people. I also enjoyed the Hunter and kiting back in vanilla WoW before they got the bad rep.

Can't wait to make some friends and play with you all! ❤️🤙 (PS4)

Hello! Very excited for you to start the game! I highly recommend getting eso+ for the craft bag alone, plus it gives you access to a ton of content.

As far as passives go I like to take them into consideration on what I want to do with the character, but it’s not going to be a huge deal so make what ever race you like.

As far as classes go, if you like AoE damage and mages you might want to give the mag Sorc a try, you also get pets with the sorc as well. If you want to get into tanking dragon knight is very good. Personally I’ve been enjoying the stamina Templar :)

Hi! Sometimes it is refreshing to see people ask community for advice rather than exclusively watching videos, bc being social is part of the fun w mmo games anyway.

Some races are better equipped with passives to give a nice bonus to certain play styles or classes (nords make for good tanks bc of extra resistances, for example), but really just choosing race based off what you personally want your character to look like won’t doom them to an existence of mediocrity.

I agree w ScubaSteve about magsorc if you really like aoe damage, but if you ever go the tanking route (you’re always free to make an alt character!) I have to admit that necrotanking is the most fun I’ve had playing this game.

I’d also suggest the monthly for the same reasons Steve listed. Happy gaming tomorrow~

Hi

as for your questions:

  1. racials: some racials passive are better for magicka builds (High Elf(damage), Breton(sustain), Argonian(healing)), some are better for melee warriors (Orc(damage), Redguard and Wood Elf(sustain), Imperial and Nord(tanking). races are flexible for both (mag or stam roles) (Khajiit(crit), Dark Elf(damage)

  2. monthly what? if you meant ESO+ subscription, then yes, but you don't buy DLCs as now Warden and Necromancer classes are available as separate Crown Store purchases (and not unlocked if you buy Morrowind and Elsweyr DLC) for (if i am not mistaken 1,500 crowns each, while you get 1,650 crowns per month of subscription).
"does it worth is?" - "worth" is a clumsy word. noone knows your prerefences and this is entirely up to you to take this decision.

  3. for lots of AoEs you could try magsorc. for CC stamdk is one of the best. Still i'd humbly advise to kill 3 hours on Dottz Gaming "ESO newbies tutorial" as it covers the very basics of ESO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEVHzHXTWpM

good gaming
