Back in my day Boats had dignity, and character!
Back in the day we used to let them boats roam free at night, let them play and graze on the shorelines. Every morning my pa would wake us before dawn, give us a cup of hot chocolate and walk with us to the waterfront. Seeing these wild beasts move with dignity when the first light touched them was a sight to behold. It always filled me with a sense of wonder and pride in the work my father did. Nowadays? They secure boats as if they couldn't fend for themselves. A shame, I tell you. Maybe that's what broke my pa, witnessing the decline of a once proud trade. That or the heroin. Of course he wasn't really my pa, he just wanted to us to call him that when he first broke into our house. Now whenever I taste LSD I think of that hot chocolate of my childhood. Funny how memory works sometimes.
