I hate the house I live in

I hate the house I live in

The house i was born in

I could change it if i tried hard enough

But i don't know what i'm doing wrong

-

The cracks up the side of the base

That show the pressure against them

The slim windows

That show nothing inside.

-

The pale white walls

That no amount of sun can help

The haunted halls that won't let me sleep

The old rugs I want to replace but can't find the right style

-

Others tell me i'm lucky to have such a lovely house

They look at the shape in galore

They can't see past the shutters and i do that on purpose

Because I hate this fat house I can't see in the same way they do

I believe this is an exploration on insecurity. The house can be seen as an extension of the perceived personality of the owner. Or even at a more shallow level the physical appearance. I love the analogy of the friends who would be happy to live in the house while you cannot look away from the dingy 'shutters'. How you have flipped the script to say beauty is the eye of the uncritical rather than the beholder. Very nice

This is just so good because personally, i love poetry that leaves me thinking and finding the real meaning of every line.

Everyone could interpret it differently, which leaves mystery. Great work, keep it up!
