That's Helkama quality for ya. But seriously, pretty weird for the fork to shear like that.

Judging from the rust on that break, I'm guessing it's been working itself apart for awhile.

I don’t even understand what everybody in this thread is going on about Cannondale has never even made a steel bike this is clearly a steel part

I have 4 Cannondales- A Track 3.0, a R900, a M900, and a T700. All of them are '92-94. They all carry my fatass just fine.

edit. to be fair, I don't service a Cannondale with a Pepperoni fork unless I replace the Pepperoni fork.

Took me a moment, I think crackondale or crackendale would be more intelligible

Crack-'n'-fail was what we called them in the 90s.

I like crack and fail, been calling them that since the days when Peaty was destroying mountains in them early days.

Didn’t know Peaty rode them, I know he started on Kona, went to Saracen? Then GT, Orange and finally Santa Cruz.

Thats right he didnt (dont think crackenfail even made dh bikes), im just saying that when he was killing it way back then and i used to ride some single track with my mates on my dinky Giant hardtail we used to laugh at the rich guys on their crackenfails, they are cool bikes tho.
