If you adjust Patrick Mahomes’ stats so that they suck, then he sucks.
Jameis Winston approves
Is this the same guy that used to do this for Deadspin?
Deadspin got blown up by its owners after they tried to unionize, defector is basically new deadspin. Think of it like the browns after they turned into the ravens, all the same people just a different host
They had been unionized for years, since the Gawker days. The vampiric new owner demanded they stick to sports—CBA limits management control over editorial. The staff filled Deadspin’s front page with very non-sports content. The interim EIC, Barry, was fired and the rest of the staff quit in protest.
Yeah, while people clown on the GMG Union for not preventing firings/awful decisions at the top, the fact that they unionized meant that all the laid off/fired people from Splinter, Deadspin, and across the other sites got a decent severance and continued benefits for like half a year while they tried to find jobs elsewhere in a shrinking field.
Not too bad for a fledgling labor group, very useful to have when subjected to the churn of venture capital people meddling in media.
Gawker Media was actually the first big coup for unionization of online media. Other newsrooms like HuffPo followed. A credit to the WGA for these inroads.
Yep, their new site launched eight days ago so they've been releasing four per day concluding with this one.
Something about the bluntness of the fan writing in to say
If Andy gets it... He'll die. No question.
Perfect fan mail.
Obviously this series is an exercise in diminishing returns, and the four per day dispatch with the rolling out of Defector the day before the season started only compounded that, but I still find them fun to lazily scroll through looking for gems.
It took 11 seconds after the Super Bowl for Chiefs’ fans to become Boston West.
lol

Well they have to do all teams.
Wtf is this donation popup blocking the thing
Private browsing gets around it
The fan mail is so true.
Is this article satire?
This should just say “they don’t” and nothing else when you click on the link.
He kind of said it in a roundabout way
lol i could give a shit if we beat the browns 3x in the postseason if we get a ring
Nah. Our fanbase will become shitty I’d we win another in the next 2-3 years. We’re not used to post season success so we won’t act like we’ve been there before because for most of our fanbase, we haven’t. The last 2 years didn’t teach us to be humble after a lifetime of heartbreak
I, for one, am stocking plenty of booze so that I can go on epic drunken rants in game threads after people call me a bandwagoner.
Sounds exactly like what a bandwagoner would say
Yeah but you gotta wait until game day when we've all been drinking for maximum effect. You also have to imply that I'm pretty young.
No fanbase has “been there before” until they have been there.
Also KC fans don’t really have a reason to be super humble. Fans were pretty brutal towards the Chiefs from 2015-2019, KC fans are just returning the favor now that they’re on top. That’s just sports. Rival fans dished it, now they can take it
Nothing wrong with any of that. Some Chief fans are toxic but who doesn’t have that, especially when you win a SB
As a non-Chiefs fan living in KC, I was always sympathetic towards the Chiefs until Mahomes. I’d root for them if their game didn’t affect Baltimore, etc., but when fans/sports radio folks started talking about fitting him for his golden jacket halfway through his first season I had to just stop. He’s amazing, the team is great, Andy Reid is great, but Jesus slow your roll and just be happy with what you’ve got. I know I’m just happy to finally have a QB who can do something other than chuck it up to Anquan Boldin or check it down to whatever RB we have that season. But to be fair Ravens fans didn’t uniformly handle last season that well. I think being surrounded by fans of another team is a recipe for guaranteed resentment at some point.
Trent Green and Alex Smith we’re both in the top 3 and both arguable our best QB in our history. Great QBs in their prime isn’t something we had. All this is new to us. We were a defense and run game team whenever we were good. Our RB run is getting pretty ridiculous with who we’ve had since the 90s
Yeah I totally understand the excitement, I really do. I think any fan living in a foreign team’s city is gonna struggle with it at some point. And with LJ it’s gonna be hard to stay humble but I’ll try.
That's exactly what I was going to say. I can't even hate them, they're so good.
