Support/livability question: GTN650Xi vs IFD440

Hi guys,

I'm taking posession of my new-to-me Navion here in the next couple of weeks. It's equipped with a GNS430W, which as functional as it is, I'd like to upgrade while the checkbook is still open so to speak.

Right now I have the option of trading the 430W in for wither an IFD440 or a GTN650Xi for roughly the same amount of money (~6-7k) out of pocket, with the IFD being cheaper presumable because of the self-installability.

With the cost being so similar, I'm torn on deciding between the two. I've used both and like both of them, the Avidyne seems like it has a less polished UI, but I like them both. The IFD comes with Flightstream-like functionality thats extra with the Garmin iirc, but the Garmin plays nice inside of the Garmin ecosystem if I ever wanted to get G5s or the like.

Is there any significant difference in the support experience for the average owner between the two that would influence you one way or the other?
