Where to go from here

Just have fun! You can hop right into casual playlists or mess around in Training until you feel competent enough for competitive playlists.

Note that the freeplay training mode is a very great ressource for improving your basic car and ball control. Just ignore the ball for some time and figure out how your car moves. Then hit the ball as hard as possible and follow up with another hit as fast as possible. This is called freeplay ballchasing and will help you improve a lot!

Whenever you feel like getting more serious with RL there are many content creators happy to show you the way. Some that did help me climb through the ranks:

  • Why You Suck At Rocket League series by Sunless Khan, very entertaining yet informative
  • Thanovics indepth mechanical advice for future Grand Champions Supersonic Legends
  • Virge offers a lot of great advice regarding rotation and positioning
  • CBell is a real life coach with great expertise regarding the mental game

Want free items? Watch RLCS!

Consider checking out the Rocket League Esport stream over on twitch. You can get free items by watching RLCS matches live! Head on over here to link your Twitch to your Rocket League account - that's all you need to do for a chance at random drops.

And to be honest, RLCS is just great fun to watch. You'll surely have a good time and will be amazed at what is possible in this game of car soccer. If you didn't knew: THIS IS ROCKET LEAGUE!

Questions?

If you have any questions just let me know in the comments!

PS: If you are a RL veteran and don't agree with some of these settings, please note that I deliberately picked what I consider to be agreed upon basic settings and left out some settings that I don't consider mandatory for new players (audio settings, sensitivity and so on). I don't think this post is the place to discuss "Air roll vs air roll right/left" and such nuances that don't make sense to new players.

However, if you disagree with thing's I present here, let me know since I am willing to improve this post as I see fit.
