Sometimes I imagined if I had the talent of Spoony in his prime

I would use it to build a successful and ongoing YouTube channel with 500K ~ 1 million subscribers. Spoony probably could have achieved that with Let's Plays alone, if they had the same quality as his Phantasmagoria 2 Let's Play and unfinished Deadly Premonition Let's Play, if he uploaded in a very consistent basis. The dude never really worked hard enough to do that and probably attracted the minimum amount of fans possible by not taking care of his channel and spreading videos to his own website and etc.

A person with Noahs talent and the work ethic of, let's say, James Rolfe, would easily have like 2-3 million subs by now. Hell, Johntron has over 6 million and he makes videos once a year and almost came out as an ethno nationalist back in like 2016!

James Rolfe has so much work ethic that he sold out and can barely bother to record himself vapidly yelling a pre-written script, much less play video games.

James at least put himself in the position to sell out before checking out on effort. Spoony just checked out.

All right, all right. You are correct. I mean back in the day.

Jon tron is well meaning, but he got caught up in some far right propaganda because he was naive. He has never or will ever be an ethno nationalist. He's also Persian btw.

Yes, I was being facetious.

Some of his older videos really are impressive. I'm watching his dead space review now and its just him sitting in a chair in 240p speaking mostly off the cuff, no jumps cuts no game footage no wacky editing and sound effects and still more engaging than popular youtubers today who use all of those techniques. Dude had talent no denying it.

I sometimes think about his knowledge of RPGs past and present, fantasy and sci fi movies and literature. Cyberpunk, Pathfinder et.c.

His collection of books and game stuff too, just massive.

Had he played his cards right he could've been a production giant today with a crew of editors and researchers doing the boring labour while he performed to his hearts content. Or he could just watch movies and play games and talk about them in live shows or vlogs.

Or hell if he'd be a bit more on the pulse of how web series were going in the post Channel Awesome internet scene he could be an the advisor or host for one of those "We-play-DND" shows or podcasts that have SEASONS these days. He could be the "Let's get ready to rumble!"-guy of Role Playing Games for goodness sake...

Nah, he vastly overstated his experience with pen and paper RPGs.

Even so, he had the ability and potential to be a good entertainer within the field.

Then again, everything seems easy if u talk in hindsight

There are some that say he soul his soul to the devil for those abilities.

This thread reminded me of the guy from Shine.

How does Spoony look WORSE than that guy?

If I had the money and resources of prime Spoony I'd recognize that E-Fame is simply too much pressure to try and make a consistent living off of.

There's a lot of benefits to having an in person job and I'd have the skills to do that. I'd also recognize the importance of my videos possibly being watched from my work and make sure they'd be appropriate for any job I'd have.

I'd explain that the channel would have less videos but I'd be working to make them of higher quality.

A lot of people would probably leave or complain a desire to make more videos but making it into a hobby rather than a job would save me a lot of issues and prepare my remaining fans for the possibility I'd retire.

I'm convinced YouTube don't want another PewDiePie, a hugely successful guy that can be seen as the face of their platform. They don't want any wildcards, that could possibly spout off slurs on streams, being seen as a representative of YouTube and put off advertisers. So the algorithm and automation changes are there to stop anyone getting too big.
