Back when logs were the lifeblood of the Northwest.
One log loads on cheese blocks parading through town. Logging is still tough today, but it was a whole different level of bad ass back then!
I live near there, there’s a giant log
Weight restrictions? 🤣
Hipster nerds commenting on all the wasted trees and hindsight on the other thread. These giant trees helped win WWII and the men cutting them, hauling them and finally using them saw exactly what was needed, Liberty!
Lmfao
What parts funny
The part where you made up a strawman to smack down in some sort of dimwitted victory?

Remember these are split shift trucks, with no jake brakes, going up and down the mountains in Oregon. No Interstates yet. No AC either. Add in tires were extremely difficult to come by due to the war so chances are those are slick as can be. Those drivers were a different breed than us.
I grew up driving pick up trucks from the 50’s and 60’s. Clearly these guys have a much tougher job but even driving old pick ups make you realize how spoiled we are. I was 17 and driving a 1960 Ford with three on the tree and no power steering. Driving that thing around a parking lot or backing a trailer was a serious work out. If I had to get on the brakes hard then I better be ready to steer because it took 1/4 mile to stop and it tried to take you off the road in a hurry.
No engine or Jake brake, but possibly water cooled brakes. Not unheard of to see water cooled brakes on some of the old off highway trucks . You knew you were catching up to one when you came up on the twin water trails going down the hill.
