Stradivari Violin sustain issues

ok so running latest version of Kontakt 6 full and just installed stradivari violin and while it sounds great.. there is a big issue that i cant seen to solve.... when you select sustain and hold down a note it has this weird thing where after a short while it repeats the note not very good for longer sustains is there any way to turn that off? i cant seem to find any settings to do so.........if so this is a big issue and needs to be fixed as it makes it useless for things like slower ambient parts.

or am i doing it wrong? as i was playing around with a midi file of the nature of daylight and because of this issue instead of a smooth transiton between the longer notes you get that abrupt note repeat at the end of the note........ which kinda ruins the whole thing. WHY WOULD they do this? almost makes the whole library useless and i assume the other solo strings in the quartet likely have the same issue but i dont know yet because they wont install from the drive and it is taking FOREEEEVER to download each one.

Caveats: (1) I'm not familiar with violin sounds and (2) I'm not sure I'm repeating what you're doing. That being said, does it accurately represent the sound of the violinist switching from pulling/pushing the bow?

maybe? but with sustain shoudnt there be some option where you can hold down a note or something and it last longer? i dunno oh well i guess ill try to keep playing around with it but as far as i can see you hold it down and after a short while the note repeats and a tad abruptly to be honest. hmmm

i contacted sweetwater support as thats where i got the update from.. i doubt they can help but i suggested if they could let NI know and suggest maybe some sort of patch. gotta be something they should or..be willing to fix. lol.

oh well its really not a bad set of strings otherwise.

Can’t you change the articulation?

i have it on sustained and even with the various options it still repeats the note a bit abruptly after just a few seconds.

hmm maybe thats just how it does. lol oh well still a nice library and glad i got it with komplete but ..yeah. maybe ill have to check out spitfire solo violins down the road too :-p

not for the sustained part.. just dynamics and vibrato pretty much

I'm very new to Kontakt (just a few days), but I just watched a video that touched on the topic of wave editing. Could you do that to make it more to your taste?

maybe but for a product that costs 400 bucks on its on. youd think theyd have that option in it. but maybe ill look into it lol. i think they just need to offer a patch/update to fix that issue in my book. lol we will see.. its not a bad set otherwise and glad i got it with komplete instead of by itself....but another issue is its taking FOREEEEEVER to download the rest of the instruments guess everyone is trying to update at once lol

no one else has this issue?

the 1.1.1 update does not fix it .. just adds the library to komplete (at least im glad it does that)

i cant be the only one with this issue all the other 3 solo strings do the same thing........and none of my other installs have such issues so i am assuming it is a fault of the library.,

HOPE they will fix this soon......but puzzled to me why it exists in the first place.,

This is the way solo string instruments work. If you have to sustain a note longer than you can physically draw the bow, then you change directions. And no matter how subtle you try and be, it always sounds like a bow direction change (for a solo instrument). The effect is masked when strings play in groups though, because everyone changes directions at different times in these situations.

You can trigger bow changes in Kontakt with a key switch, so you can at least put them where you want, if that works for you, but other than that, yeah, I think you'd need to edit the instrument in more detail to actually change this behavior.

And even though this does mimic natural playing, I do agree that there should be an easy option to disable it for when you aren't necessarily going for that level of realism.
