This is why the Izanagi's Burden is an exotic you shouldn't miss out on.

Hey, guardians! A lot of people always wonder what a good load-out is for raids. I thought I'd share with you my personal favourite gun to use, the Izanagi's burden.

The Izanagi's Burden is one of the best exotic weapons and let me tell you why.

  • Honed Edge x4 allows for some amazing burst DPS.
  • If you use a Auto-loading Holster Grenade Launcher, you can hot swap after loading a honed edge round into the Burden, fire all of your grenade launcher shots, swap back to the burden, shoot the honed edge shot, reload, and swap back to grenade launcher.
  • This, if timed correctly will perfectly match the time it takes for auto-loading to reload your launcher.
  • Sniper Rifle Ammo Finders are easy to acquire from most activities.
  • Works well with the Remote Connection class mods since you can snipe most challenging enemies with honed edge.
  • Ammo isn't really an issue with appropriate finder and reserve mods.
  • The weapon rotation allows you to store a quick burst shot whenever you need it.
  • Allows the player to practice their weapon swapping and rotation skills.

How to get it:

  1. You can get the Izanagi's from a long quest starting at Ada-1 with the mysterious box, this box will then need you to do all the forges (except Bergusia). Before the start of the second and third round, two small drones will spawn, destroy these for the maximum temper buff, this allows you to get the key from a chest at the end of the activity.
  2. When you have all of the three keys except for the Black Armory Key you can talk to Ada-1 to start the journey to acquire the final and last key.
  3. Head to the Leviathan (you can do this solo). Go down below the bridge you spawn at and activate the switches (from left to right) in the following sequence: 1, 5, 3, 2, 4, 6. This will open up a path along some pipes if you keep climbing up the ramps that will lead you to the underbelly and watchers that you need to kill for lenses.
  4. Next on the menu is 200 glimmering amethyst, you can get these at the EDZ in either strikes (recommend doing Lake of Shadows) or Public Events.
  5. You will now have to enter the Bergusia Forge and forge the last key.
  6. Next step requires the completion of a rare bounty, these have a chance to be rewarded when you turn in normal black armory bounties from Ada-1.
  7. Now you'll need to complete a Shattered Throne run, either solo or with a group.
  8. Finally you'll need to do a special Pyramidion Strike that rewards you with a mission where you will get the weapon frame.
  9. Turn this mission in and behold the beauty that is the Izanagi's Burden.

Bonus: To get the catalyst you must have a masterworked chalice and complete a heroic menagerie.

This was the first really good exotic I grinded for! Did the chalice and all for catalyst. I remember doing the catalyst at shuro chi and legit was halfway thru 500 kills and started reading patch notes from bungo. It was the patch they nerfed iza!! Lol. I was sad but it’s still an amazing weapon and one of my faves. Everyone should get it.

You can also just go to first area inside the leviathan (while it's still around). Nailing potato soldiers for about 45-50 min and you're done.

Highly recommend farming the catalyst kills in Izanami forge, that way you get the triumph done for the Blacksmith seal at the same time.

I finished the catalyst shortly after it was released. Last season, I went and finished to the Blacksmith title. I really wish I had worked on the forge triumph while working on the catalyst.

Same except I’m working on Blacksmith this season, a new light buddy of mine was doing his catalyst and triumph kills with me and I couldn’t stop thinking about how much time I spent at Shuro to get that shit done haha

Just wanted to let people know that you do not have to attain the first three keys first before going for the Bergusia one. I did that one first as it was the one I rotation currently for the day.

That seems strange since there’s an entire quest line for the black armory key starting with a mold, or have they changed it?

Maybe if you still had the quest? Pretty sure you can't pick it up from Ada-1 anymore. You just get the drop from bergussia now instead.

Matter of perspective, even without the part of how to get it most players don’t know about optimal rotations or even how to get it. Felt this was an appropriate way to cover both.

Don't listen to them, there are a ton of new players who have never seen this weapon in action, let alone realize it's one of the top weapons in the game. Thank you for going back to teach them!

Finally someone who mentioned this besides me!!! I've been mentioning this loadout in comments everywhere but very few people seemed to understand just how strong it is for killing bosses when a sword isn't viable.

My personal grenade launcher of choice is the Interference VI with volatile launch, blast radius MW, spike grenades, full court and autoloading holster. It's a beast loadout for long range DPS!

You'll notice that when it's masterworked (or perfected as it says iirc) it has golden borders just like masterworked weapons and armor does.

Edit: Didn't really answer your question but yes, unlocking all the slots makes it masterworked.

Unlock everything. It'll have a yellow outline when it's done, same as anything else masterworked.

Just do all Ada' bounties for a week and you are guaranteed to get one.

This is not true. There's no guarantee like this. It could take several weeks. However, you can triple your chances by doing it on all 3 characters. But then you'll have to do/redo the quest on the character with the rare bounty.

As of update 2.7.1 you are guaranteed to get a rare bounty if you complete all daily and weekly bounties for 5 days straight. Do your research before you tell someone is wrong.

Oh man, I was just finishing up a rare bounty until I started looking into which quest steps it had. I held the completed rare bounty and needed to remind myself not to claim it before the quest step came to complete a rare bounty.

As someone who almost always has to use a sniper as part of their loadout this gun does everything I could want in harder content (almost anyway).

Someone else may be able to confirm, but I know part of the quest requires Leviathan, which is being vaulted. Most likely IMO is that it will be offered like other exotics whose quests are going away, which is through some new form of currency at (I believe) Rahool.

Since the nerf to the honed edge the burst dps has been below average. Whisper or xenophage are both better options.

Also insane in PVP. Not incredibly popular due to revoker bring top notch, but boy 1HK0 ankle shotting someone sure feels good. It's also a beast I'm gambit and arguably better than truth and jotuun for invades.

One of my personal favorites for gambit -x4 Honed Edge can bodyshot invaders -still pretty good against primeval

also being able to bodyshot people in pvp can open up some very unique angles where you can insta-kill someone who can’t even see you

Also for anyone looking for good boss dps weapons they almost always work a lot better with Auto-loading holster.

Honestly one of the best perks in the game and kinda underrated? It's just not flashy enough i guess.
