Chances diminish with each day?
I’m waiting on one last reference for my application, but I worry with each passing day that my odds of acceptance are reduced the closer I turn it in towards the deadline. Could this be the case? Is it first come first serve?

Alright, so here's the thing, each campus has between 250-300 CM's and 25-35 TL's per class. You didn't specify which position you applied to, so I will tell you what I know about both application processes.
CM spots are rolled out every two weeks, starting about a month after the application opens and continues until all spots are filled. Then applicants are added to a waitlist. When (not if, because it will happen) someone drops out before the start date, an applicant is randomly selected from the waitlist and made an offer. I believe the cut off of drawing from the waitlist is two weeks before the start date; however, I am not certain about that.
The campus' interview TL applicants, independent of each other, who are in the running for a spot. Offers are made one month before the application closes and one month after it closes. If a TL applicant is not offered a TL spot, they are offered a CM spot.
Applications are only reviewed once they are complete with references. There is no way to know how full an upcoming class is or if the waitlist offers have started going out. So, the only thing you can do at this point is to talk to your reference.
I hope this is helpful, at the very least informative. Good luck!
