[Bob the hobo] A little Bob The Hobo thing that I thought I'd share ...
Heh, in a different location, it was asked of a group I was in to come up with how our MC would stall someone.
I came up with this for Sam. 🤣

Ever had that deer in the headlights moment? Mine came when my Mom asked me to keep my Dad out of the apartment. She wouldn’t tell me why, just that she needed ten minutes. So here I was, standing outside my apartment, sweating bricks with no idea what I was going to say, let alone how I was supposed to say it convincingly enough that he would believe me. I still drew a blank, even as I saw his head crest the top of the stairs in that insanely expensive suit he wore that cost more money than my term’s college tuition.
“Buy me time, Sam,” Mom had said.
Dad’s eyes found me on the next step, and he bolted up the remaining steps and almost ran over to me. “What’s wrong?” he demanded.
I licked my lips. “Umm…Hey, Dad.”
Dad stood at least a foot taller than me, so when I say he tilted his head and stepped into my space, he really did loom right over the top of me. “Alright, Sam. Out with it. What’ve you done?”
Heat prickled across my skin and I started breathing through my mouth. I really sucked at this stuff. “I-I … just … thought … I’d meet you at the door. You know … to say hi.” My shoulders went up in a disarming shrug and I tried to smile up at him, but it was really difficult when his gaze flinted and narrowed ominously.
“Riiiight,” he purred, folding his arms. “Wanna try that again? Preferably leading with something I’ll believe.”
God, since when did the hallway get so hot? Sweat broke out all over me. And what was I going to be like when this conversation really did involve something I'd done wrong?

((The funny thing is, he is so bad at this, that he's doing exactly what he's supposed to be doing. Llyr is determined to find out what his son's hiding, when there's nothing to hide, thus stalling him.))
