Steve's block can cancel all of his ending lag on attacks. Just time it as it crumbles while ontop.

Ultimate

So you can combo down tilt's multi-hits into forward or down smash, for example. It might even be a true blockstring into grab.

It also cancels shield.

Might help a lot with safety and fishing for confirms.

Its how the game handles anyone when a platform disappears from under you. I can't think of specific examples except Super Mario Maker's starting platforms. But it has always been the case universally that if a platform disappears from under you any attack animation is automatically cancelled (except certain cases such as any Link Up-B which leaves them helpless, among others)

However, this is definitely a bit more meaningful as Steve is the only character who can force a platform beneath him and use this mechanic to his advantage so freely.

Edit: Other examples (of platforms disappearing from beneath you) include the several timed platforms in Princess Peach's Castle, Tingle's balloon on Great Bay being popped, the blocks on Yoshi's Island (Melee), blocks on Green Greens, Onnet's platforms, blocks in Mushroomy Kingdom, Warioware Inc's platforms (for minigames), Frigate Orpheon (when it transitions)

you get the idea. I'm not gonna list them all lol. But I believe every single instance of this is not present in competitive play so this will be something specific to Steve matches and could be well utilised by him... or his opponents.

Pac mans hydrant is the most obvious example.

Hold on, do you mean a shield block, or like a block block? Like a Minecraft block?

I can tell this is gonna get confusing...

guessing his "block" special, considering they said it cancels shield

Yee, I get it now. Took me a few tries though. Steve is so deceptively complex.

For some reason, my blocks disappeared considerably faster (allowing me to do things like fsmash fair easily) in training mode than they did in a real match, so I wasn't able to efficiently use this as much as I could in training. Do you why this is?

Apparently blocks placed towards the edges of stages deteriorate faster. I've noticed the same thing as you and I've been wondering if the Training stage's definitions of "inner stage" and "outer stage," for the purpose of block deterioration rates, might be a bit weird.

Of course if you're talking about every stage acting that way in Training Mode, then disregard me entirely.

I only tested this on the training stage, so I bet you're right
