I made a tool that makes it easier to give users Flair. I call it Easy Flair and I want to share it with other mods.

Okay, I don't know how to write a backstory for this and everything but who cares why I made this, let's just jump right in!

Introducing Easy Flair! Version 2.6

What this does

So currently, in order to add Flair to a user, you need to copy the username, open your admin panel, enter the user's name, wait for a page to load, then copy paste the style you want to have and then hit save and wait. Even worse, if you messed up by just a bit, you have to do even more work to fix that issue.

Who wants that? I sure as hell don't.

Well, with Easy Flair it's so much easier.

  1. Simply hover over a user's name.

  2. Click on the flair you want to give to your user.

  3. Wait about five seconds for the request to go through.

  4. And BOOM. That user now has that flair!

It's super easy!

Have some screenshots!

Where can I get such a fantastic tool?

Well, since each subreddit is different, I wrote a generator to make the userscript for you! But hold on a second! Let's go over how to install.

How to install

  • If you have Chrome, follow the instructions here on how to install.

  • If you have Firefox, you need to install GreaseMonkey.

  • Opera users need to install this first.

And I haven't tested it on any other browser.

Notes

  • Remember to check back here for updates. Additionally, you can signup for notifications here.

  • There is currently no way to set flair text with this script.

  • You need to have flair already set up on your subreddit, if you do not have flair on your subreddit already, this tool will do nothing.

  • There cannot be any flair specific CSS rules before the main .flair block. So if you are hiding the toggle for flair via form.toggle.flairtoggle or you are hiding the flair so it only shows up on comment pages, you need to do that after the main .flair block. If you are confused or not sure if this applies to you, feel free to leave me a message and I can help you out.

  • There is no way to remove flair using the script. To remove flair, you will need to do it via your Edit Flair page.

  • If you find a bug or it doesn't work on your subreddit, please let me know.

Success Stories

  • "We used RogueDarkJedi's script for r/mylittlepony, and it made things waaaaay simpilier for the entire modteam. Ended up saving us loads of time." - RainbowCrash (mylittlepony)

  • "During the introduction of flair to our subreddit, there was a big response that was taking up a big chunk of the mod team's time. After RDJ wrote Easy Flair, granting a user's wanted flair was as easy as point-and-click. Saved us loads of time." - IllusionOf_Integrity (mylittlepony)

  • "Easy Flair made it phenomenally easy to give the people on my subreddit the flair they wanted without needing to hassle with a bot. Instead of searching for each person on the flair page, I only needed to make a quick click. Also, that RogueDarkJedi is one sexy beast." - HeirToPendragon (TheLastAirbender)

  • "Easy Flair is awesome and RDJ has a huge penis. Thanks for making our lives so much better." - Random_Acts_of_Pizza (specifically snang)

  • "/r/Assistance is very happy with Easy Flair! It is so much easier to point and click to add icons. RDJ helped a ton!!!!!" - Assistance

Misc

Basically, I want to hear your feedback. I love improving stuff, and I want to make Easy Flair the best it can be*.

* without killing myself

Changelog

  • 1.9 - Fixed undefined subreddit name. Thanks to KerrickLong for pointing out my mistake!

  • 2.1 - Fixed panel being too small, now grabs width and height from the stylesheet. Make sure you have no other CSS rules that have the word .flair in them (if you do, move them to the end of the stylesheet) before you get to the main .flair block.

  • 2.2 - Adds a couple of style rules and allows you to make a script that will work on modmail.

  • 2.3 - Doesn't add the CSS content property to the selector, you can use on the index page now, set the width to be fixed, removes :before, :after and :hover selectors in the generation list that were causing bad output.

  • 2.4 - Works again.

  • 2.5 - Works on modmail again.

  • 2.5 (Chrome) - Works correctly now.

  • 2.6 - Added selector text and visual cues to help subreddits that have lots of flair. This is an option that is checked by default. Also fixed a bug that caused flair assignment previews to not work.

Enjoy!
