i7 Issues

This may have been posted already but I contacted iRobot customer support to see what I could do about my i7 acting terribly lately. It's been unable to start any scheduled jobs, they must be started manually (Smart Map Error). Ignoring the order for rooms to be cleaned. Charging for 5 minutes, resuming the job for 5 minutes, then charging for 5 again. Etc. Just a tremendous amount of issues. I did a factory reset, remapped, and still no change.

Anyways, support said there was a software issue for multiple models including the i7 and they are working on a fix ASAP but no timeframe given. There was no further troubleshooting steps they could give me other than wait it out.

Yeah my i7 essentially lost its mind with the latest firmware after being basically flawless for a year and a half previously. It was completely losing track of where it was, ending up in areas marked as keep out zones while also trying to get to other rooms by smashing its way through walls. It could no longer get to one end of my house due to this.

I seem to have worked around it by deleting the existing map and having it remap the house again. It's a bit of a chore though so if they have an update on the way it might be worth waiting and vacuuming manually like a pleb in the meantime.

I've tried restarting, remapping, and a factory reset but it hasn't improved its behavior.

I’m having the same issue! It worked beautifully for a year and a half, and just recently, it won’t go on scheduled jobs, I have to restart every time to get it to run at all, it will go out and restore to home base after a few minutes and not charge, give me an error message that the battery is low but the app says it’s fully charged, etc. And of course my warranty is out, so the service rep I’ve been talking to says I’m going to have to pay to have it repaired. Maybe I should wait for the software fix?

Had the same issue and remapping also solved it for me.

Same here on my s9 and my bravaa. I called them last Thursday.

It's a software issue, hopefully we get a patch soon.

I’m so glad I checked here; I didn’t know if my roomba was losing my mind or I was. Mine also loses scheduled jobs, it never got the room orders right, and it gets lost on every single run, including on its way home.

It’s comforting to know it’s a known software issue and I will try to wait it out before throwing this dummy out the window.

I had issues with debt other update but now it’s been running perfectly on 3.10.8. My Braava m6 is running great with that version too! Now if I could only turn off the auto updates. Stick with the one that works!

My i7 is an absolute mess right now. It can’t reliably find half of the rooms in my house. It can’t even find the main hallway even though it’s right off the living room where it is docked. It just kinds of bounces around outside the hallway and then decides the path is obstructed and returns to the dock. Factory resets, remaps, training run, etc. nothing can fix the problems. It’s to the point where turning off smart mapping would probably be the best option for reliably cleaning my house and even then I doubt the i7 could do the job.

I don’t know when they pushed this update that screwed everything up but before that my i7 was working great.

After a year and a half of owning my i7, this is the first time I've had something like this. I know it's frustrating but don't give up on it yet.

Mine just started having to do if random "bin errors" And then the i7 would go home to charge and never leaving the dock again. Usually says low battery but it was working fine until the update.

Mine started giving random lines on carpet. Acting more agressive than usual. So I got the S9 and it did the same thing. Returned it and wondering if this is just a bad update or something.

I was wondering if this issue is fixed yet?

I'm not sure, I sold my i7 and purchase a Deebot T8+ on sale.

My i7+ will do a scheduled run, but it won’t register as ended. So it will be on the base charging, but if you look at the app it will say it’s still returning to base. Which means my Braava doesn’t start because the i7 never registers as done. The only way to fix this is to take off my WiFi and reset completely. So now I just have them scheduled separately so at least then Braava goes as well based on my estimation of how long the i7 will take.

I just got the dang i7 a week ago after having the 960 for 3 years.
