The event for moons question
So, ive read three event guides now and I think i kind of get how it works now; but I would really appreciate it if someone could, instead of explaining it, type out an ELI5 what to do for someone with core champions lol.
I cant find any current videos or anything either but it feels like an overload of info at times. I play on PS4 if that makes a difference

There are three champions per event.
If you look at the left side of your map screen where the location tabs are a new one will be at the very bottom called (Liars Night). That is the event location.
At first you'll have three locations available, one for each champ. Completing each and reaching stage 50 earns you that champ. That's the first thing you do.
Once you have all three look at the variants for each champ, each will have three to play once unlocked and completing each earns you a gold chest for that specific champ.
Now it sounds like you're new so you might find the varients hard to complete. If that is the case just focus on getting the champs. Once you you can re-play that same stage again (the one labeled free play) and once you get to stage 50 just hit the complete the button and leave. you will get a chest for that specific champion, the odds of silver to gold are 4:1. That way you can get gear for your new champ as well as event tokens.
Event tokens.
They drop while your playing no matter what stage or campaign you're on. You need between 25-100 I think to play the stage for the champs but it goes up each re-play. More tokens = more re-plays = more chests.
Hope that's clear. I completed the tutorial on the last three days of the past event so I know its very hard for newbies but the champs are totally possible.
