Issues with Bluetooth media on 2013 4 series?

Hi all,

Just got my enhanced Bluetooth enabled on my 4 series. I've noticed that the track information updates every 10-30 seconds (sometimes longer), the album art doesn't show, and if I skip a song, the track doesn't update for a while but the audio itself changes. If I try to skip again while the track name hasn't updated, it just crashes Spotify and doesn't play anything or let me skip back and forth.

I've just updated the software via USB, but nothing has changed. I've tried disconnecting the phone and reconnecting without all the contact info etc. to see if that was it, but no luck.

I also just tried using my work phone which is an iPhone using Spotify. That works great for the first song, it shows album art and the track time updates every second so it works better, but when I try to skip songs it keeps the first track details (album art and track name) but only updates the track time. It's better for skipping songs than my Android, but it doesn't tell me what track it's on.

I've looked across loads of forums but can't seem to find what the fix is, I feel like I've tried everything. Is the software just shit on my BMW?
