So is Regieleki good?

Discussion

I really like its design and well, it IS the fastest Pokémon of them all, and its good special attack is made quite dangerous because of its ability, but... its movepool is so small... Aside from Electric moves, it only learns stuff like Ancient Power, Assurance and Acrobatics, which doesn't really bode well for an Electric type tbh. So yeah, how good is Regieleki actually?

Depends. Is there a ground type in the ennemy team ?

It may not have good coverage, but its electric moves are so powerful, that it doesnt need it. For example a rising voltage in electric terrain does more damage to an Amoonguss than a flamethrower from Regieleki. And this power coupled with its speed makes it really good. The only thing it really struggles with are ground types, because you will only use electric moves most of the time, but if you have other team members that can handle them well, they wont be such a large problem.

Probably "viable". With ET up, STAB, and Transistor I don't think you'll care about using anything but electricity most of the time. Clear out the Ground type and Rillaboom on the team and I don't think there's much else that'll stop it.

Seems so. You can add more supportive moves like twave volt switch and tbolt. You can double screen easily with it. And even a physical setup seems viable.

It still has use as a super fast means of speed control, to allow your partner Pokémon the chance to go before your opponent after speed drops from electroweb. I could see it being a good partner alongside water urshifu

What really stands out to me is Thunder Cage. Trapping is a ridiculously powerful technique that can break open singles matches so easily, and Thunder Cage not only traps, it’ll hurt a lot since it’s essentially got base 120 power thanks to Transistor. It’ll be easy to trap too, since Regieleki is gonna outspeed goddamn everything.

Regieleki is going to be niche due to the terrible coverage, but if you can play your cards right, it’ll hardly matter since Regieleki will reward you with golden setup opportunities.

That's a problem both Regis have, but at least Eleki's output isn't based on its HP with its best moves, and it goes first instead of tanking hits to attack second. Plus Electro Ball is scary on that thing.

Also, if you consider STAB on Thunder Cage, it's up at 160, not just 120, so it's even better

Yeah the damage calc for Thunder Cage is before STAB. I try to make that distinction because I think it’s the easiest way to avoid confusion.

Both Regis have an embarrassment of riches in STAB options at their disposal. It’ll be a pain making Dragon Energy work, but Regidrago has other options to work with if Dragon Energy proves to be too difficult to sustain.

Oh yeah, a stupid amount of STAB moves. The problem comes in that they only have one type to get STAB from, and their types both have a type immune to them, common types at that

If you can remove any ground types and bulky grass types regieleki can clean up a team pretty easily. Life orb transistor stab tbolt is enough for most situations and you can volt switch out of anything threatening

He is useless against literally anything with a ground type, but if you can remove the ground types from their team, he is absolutely a major threat with his massive speed and increased power from his ability.

It's good, but not meta defining. It has a surprising amount of options given its movepool. I'm gonna try running a support set with Electro Web and Dual Screen. Rising Voltage next to Koko is gonna hit extremely hard.

No need to have good coverage if your primary STAB is incredibly powerful. While it is walled by ground types, they can be removed via teammates. Plus Regieleki can help you with positioning via Volt Switch, provide team support with Rapid Spin and can always just explode if it needs to. But Choice Specs Regieleki with a STAB boosted, Electric Terrain boosted, Transistor boosted Rising Voltage available to it, I struggle to see it being bad.
