September 1st - How bad is it really?

I'm moving from CT to Waltham via 90 and 128. I've been advised to leave as early as possible (like 6 AM) to avoid traffic.

Should I be expecting gridlock all day or something? I have no plans on getting any closer to Boston than Waltham.
