I got the Nuvaring but I'm so scared to start it

How to?

I got the generic version of the Nuvaring online, they sent me three rings. I postponed starting it because I wanted to quit vaping first, to lower my risk of blood clots.

But now that I'm a month clean and my period has started, it should be time to start the ring. But I'm still so terrified of blood clots and adverse side effects. I'm only 21, so I know statistically I probably don't have much to worry about. But it's just making me so anxious.

I also feel like I'm in a really good spot with my mental health right now. I've managed to go a few weeks straight without any major anxiety or depressive thoughts. I would hate to start the ring and have it mess everything up again.

Any advice or reassurance would be great. Also, if there's a less risky hormonal birth control, I'd love to hear about it. I didn't know until today when I started Googling more about the blood clot risks with Nuvaring, but some sources are saying the ring is even more dangerous than the pill as far as the risk of blood clots.
