Sub Icon Contest!

Greetings, liberalgunowners! As many of you have no doubt noticed, we reached a remarkable landmark: 100,000 members! Congratulations, all you walking paradoxes!

You may also have noticed that we do not have a custom icon for the sub, and in order to correct this we're holding a contest for users to create and submit icon designs. The mod team will group the best ones into a list (final number will depend on how many are submitted), and the community will vote on a winner.

The final prize is yet to be fully determined, but at the least it will include:

  • unique user flair
  • unique subreddit award
  • fame and adoration of the liberalgunowners community

Rules are simple:

  • image must be 256x256px
  • .jpg or .png format
  • no copyrighted images
  • deadline for entries is 11/15
  • preferably scalable to T-shirt decal size

Here are my submissions.

The first incorporates target design, the USA roundel insignia with a highlighted star as a nod to the leftiest among us. Black and white signify racial unity.

The second combines a target, unity, and a watchful eye.

Some submissions

The first is inspired by the human rights flag. Two cartridges of .223. Blue tips (because varmint hunting). Pointing left (because liberal).

The second is inspired by my new BDC optic mashed up with gender symbols.

I had heard people suggest the Ace of Hearts, to run with the "bleeding heart" theme. I decided to combine that with the Three Arrows to get something relatively simple and clean, so that it can be hastily drawn or slapped as a sticker that will stand out. Done in illustrator, if anyone wants the ai file, just let me know. If you guys would like to see some modifications or an LGO added in, just let me know.

I may or may not get one more out before the deadline, depending on how busy I am.

I can’t draw, but if anybody can and needs ideas:

  • peace symbol made of cartridges
  • Three Arrows emblem but made of cartridges or rifle barrels
  • simple silhouette image of a blue eagle claw clutching a blue rifle
  • crossed blue rifles
  • silhouette of a blue donkey with one of those turn of the century saddle-mounted Maxim guns like they used to make for camels

Just spitballing here.

First is one based on the Human Rights Campaign logo. I saw a similar one below, but felt it would look better using 9mm rounds and with the blue background, so I made my own version.

Second is a pair of crossed rifles with a snowflake, which symbolizes us liberals (since conservatives often insult us as such).

Third is the Democratic Party logo, but with a rifle and sling forming the "D".

Fourth is the BLM fist holding a pistol. While my first instinct was to use the same rifle silhouette, I thought that the scale would make it look silly.

I have zero graphic design experience, but i agree. I had in mind an AR15 platform gun, facing the upward left colored in a trans flag, blue and the pride flag: kinda faded into each other.

YES! This is exactly what I had in mind except color the gun this color scheme and leave the background white maybe. This one works as well though and I love the design!

https://www.pinterest.com/pin/216735800791792109/ Stolen from Pinterest but I think the icon for this sub should be based on this picture of Malcom X holding a gun while looking out of his home in Queens, New York. He had good reason to be wary his home had already been firebombed and he would be assassinated soon afterwards. Malcom X was a consistent advocate for legal gun ownership for self defense against racist violence from police and lynch mobs. While most people talk about MLK I dont think Malcom gets enough credit for his role in the civil rights movement, the legacy of which is eroded day by day. He was the bogeyman for racists and I'm sure it will piss the hell out of y'all qaeda types.
