Well, I've delayed and delayed and delayed the posting of the AMA for the fifth-most upvoted drug in our poll of redditors. The time has finally come to pose your questions to people who have knowledge of several sides of the ibogaine experience.
A COLOSSAL thanks to the two people who have decided to come in here and help shed some light on one of the most unique drugs in the world.
SovereignMudhen has not only taken ibogaine herself, but has administered it to more people that you can shake a stick at and has worked alongside some of the Western world's most experienced users. She has been gracious enough to offer her time by answering questions for the first few hours.
ibogaineAMA (Sandy) has used ibogaine to treat an addiction to opioid prescription painkillers and you can read about the experiences here. Having a rather busy schedule at the moment, Sandy's replies won't come until later and will likely be sporadic. Nonetheless, any additional perspectives are greatly appreciated.
In addition, I'll try and attract some members of the Eboka.info forum to this thread if there are a wealth of questions coming in.
First synthesis: 1966 by G. Büchi. First isolated in 1901 by two, separate and independent chemist duos.
Intended use: Used in addiction treatment centres located in countries that have yet to ban its use (as well as some unlicensed centres located in countries that have banned its use).
Current research into medical applications: Recent, MAPS-sponsored, studies testing the efficacy of ibogaine in addiction treatment have taken place or are currently underway in Canada and the Virgin Islands.
Legality: There seems to be an even split between countries in which it is legal and illegal. Erowid Link. Wiki Link.
