RM750x - is there a difference between the 6+2 pcie ports and the 4+4 cpu ports?
Howdy.
I've recently upgraded my rig. I'm running an msi b550 tomahawk with my old GTX 1070 and a new psu, an RM750x.
After getting everything up and running I was googling about and noticed this image from this thread.
https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/e933gq/corsair_rm750x_6pin8pin_gpu_connection/
When plugging my stuff in I've plugged both my CPU 8 pin and my GPUs 8 pin in next to each other in the 4+4 cpu slots (the blue cpu box), I thought the 6+2 pcie slots (the green gpu box) were all sata connections so I ignored them.
Is having my 8 pin GPU plugged into the 8 pin CPU port something that could cause issues/damage to my GPU? Or as it is a modular psu and the ports appear to be identical is a port a port and it'll be fine?
Thanks for the help.
EDIT: Just gonna drop an edit for those who find this in the future.
The answer is maybe? Apparently the slots are modular and have the same pins, but on some PSU's they may have more ground wires, I've ended up changing it to the right slot regardless.
